  3. COURSE:   The Olympic Club
  4. LOCATION: San Francisco, California

  8. The Olympic Club in California is a truly great golf course.  It
  9. also represents my favorite personal effort to date at
  10. reconstructing golf courses using the Jack Nicklaus Unlimited
  11. Golf Designer.  I love it because it doesn't use much sand and
  12. uses no water as hazards, yet it is one of the most challenging
  13. courses you could ever wish to play.  It's hazards derive from
  14. its very narrow, undulating, and often tilted fairways.  You
  15. absolutely must be on top of your accuracy game to score here. 
  16. The course is very fair, in that if you acheive consistent
  17. accuracy you can break par (my own personal best is a 66), but on
  18. a bad day you can shoot very high.  A strong wind makes it even
  19. more of a challenge.  On  several holes you must thread the
  20. needle.  I keep coming back again and again to play here, even
  21. though I have designed several course since.  I have tried to
  22. duplicate the tall pines and eucalyptus trees which populate the
  23. actual course.  If you are in those tall trees, they do provide
  24. you with the change to thread between them without hitting the
  25. leaves....another thing I love about the course.

  28. you haven't done so already, check out the many courses by Jay
  29. Johnson....He cranks out quality courses over and over again and
  30. has focused on relatively unknown course in Japan and other parts
  31. of the world.  He has done some great trees and shrubs which I
  32. believe he has put on Accolade's bulletin board.  Check them
  33. out...you won't be disappointed.
