  5. NOTE: Issue 26 marked the beginning
  6. of a new format for the C64 version
  7. of Commodore Free:
  8. Use a Mouse in Port #1, a Joystick in
  9. Port #2, or Keyboard Cursor keys to
  10. navigate the new format.
  11.  
  12. On the Main Menu screen, you will
  13. find a list of Topics on the left, 3
  14. Icons on the right and a Title bar on
  15. the bottom.
  16. As you move the 'Arrow' cursor over
  17. the Topics/Subtopics or Icons, the
  18. Title bar provides a short
  19. description of what you can expect
  20. when you select that item.  
  21.  
  22. The top left Icon is a question mark.

  25. If selected, you can read about 
  26. Commodore Free. 
  27.  
  28. The top right Icon is a music staff 
  29. If selected, you can play or change
  30. background music.
  31.  
  32. The bottom Icon is a curled arrow.
  33. Select this to quit Commodore Free &
  34. return to BASIC.

  36. When you select a Topic, you will
  37. either get the article or a list of
  38. Subtopics to pick from.  The article
  39. screen displays an article title at
  40. the top, a scrollbar (with single &
  41. double arrows) on the right and the
  42. words EXIT & PRINT on the bottom. If
  43. you click on a single arrow, the text
  44. will scroll one line at a time in the
  45. direction of the arrow. Use the
  46. double arrow to scroll a page at a
  47. time. On the keyboard, the UP/DOWN
  48. cursor key scrolls a single line & 
  49. the RIGHT/LEFT cursor key scrolls a
  50. page at a time.

  52. Select EXIT to return to the Main
  53. Menu or PRINT to get a Hardcopy of
  54. the article in 80 columns. The
  55. keyboard 'E' or 'P' keys also provide
  56. these functions.  On the main screen
  57. pressing M will  toggle the music on
  58. or off, but has  no effect in the
  59. reader application.
