  3. Commodore In the workplace

  5. I work for a conservatory company and
  6. with 2 other members of staff look
  7. after 15 servers, 350 users and about
  8. 50 laser printers
  9.  
  10. When a "user" phones with a problem
  11. we have a system to "log" calls, the
  12. next free person will deal with the
  13. call depending upon the impact, the
  14. call could cost the business. The main
  15. interface looks like this

  17. The application was put together by
  18. one of our programmers; at the time
  19. we didn't have the budget to purchase
  20. a commercial system.

  22. OK so what has this got to do with
  23. Commodore? I can here you asking,
  24. well if you click on the About option
  25. apart from a fancy screen of yours
  26. truly, the application plays at random
  27. a SID tune using Sidplay from a folder
  28. where the application is executed from.

  30. You can see the music track playing
  31. next to the text MUSIC, I change the
  32. music at random, but one time we had
  33. the entire HSVC archive in a folder,
  34. unfortunately due to the amount of
  35. files this stopped the backup
  36. application running so I had to trim
  37. them down somewhat.

  39. When each person has dealt with a call
  40. and closes the item with whatever was
  41. needed to fix the problem the
  42. application again plays SID tunes
  43. during the call closing period.

  45. Just a gentle nod towards Commodore
  46. and the fantastic sounds of the SID
  47. chip. Do you have any Commodore
  48. related items in your work place?

  50. Of course my desk has the usual
  51. wedding photo but also a nice C= logo
  52. in a wooden frame. Sad, Mad or just
  53. nutty about Commodore lets hear those
  54. stories.
