Pierre Dansereau became a botanist, and worked in the Montreal and the New York Botanical Gardens, and has directed ecological research centres. He has written many books on ecology and the urban environment. He has won numerous awards, including the Fermat medal, Massey Medal, Prix Esdras-Minville; Prix Marie-Victorin; the Killam Prize, Lawson Medal, and the Lifetime Achievement Award from Environment Canada in 1989. He is also the author of a series of TV films on the environment.
