Before training you as a pilot, we will first train you as an Officer of the Canadian Forces: the Basic Officer Training Course and the Second Language Course are given in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu in Quebec.Phase I Primary represents a critically important element of the Undergraduate Pilot Training System (UPTS). Pilot candidates receive their introduction to Canadian Forces flying training and fly their first training missions during Phase I Primary. As well, the selection process is further refined by identifying early those candidates who are likely to achieve the required pilot training standard within the allotted training time. Early identification of potential to succeed is necessary to provide candidates the confidence to achieve success in future pilot training phases and to ensure the substantial investment required for Phase II and III flight training is effective. The Phase I Primary program is currently conducted on the Slingsby T-67 Firefly in Southport, Manitoba.
