2. Place the disk in the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive. The Autorun window opens.
3. In the Autorun window, click Install. This part of the installation may take a few minutes.
4. Versabook checks to see if Internet Explorer version 4.01 is installed on your computer. If Internet Explorer 4.x is not installed, you will be prompted to install Internet Explorer 5. The Welcome window appears.
5. In the Welcome window, click Next. The Software License Agreement appears.
6. Read the Software License Agreement, and then click Yes. The Choose Destination Location Window appears.
Setup chooses a destination and folder for the installation.
Note: To install in a different folder:
1. Click Browse.
2. Choose path and drive.
3. Click OK.
4. Click Next. The Book Installation Options dialog box opens.
7. Click the type of book installation you prefer, then click OK. The Real Player Installation window opens.
8. Follow the instructions for Real Player installation. The Quick Time Installation window opens.
9. Follow the instructions for Quick Time Installation. The Setup Complete window opens.
10. Click Finish. You will be prompted to restart your computer.
Note: We recommend you restart your computer.
11. Click the product icon on your desktop to open your Versabook.
Note: If your product is a two CD-ROM set, follow these instructions:
1. You will be asked to place the second disk in the CD-ROM drive.
2. Place the second disk in the CD-ROM drive.
3. Follow the installation instructions as above.
Note: In order to avoid CD swapping, we recommend you run the program from the CD2-Program disc.
Note: If Autorun does not begin, follow these instructions:
1. Double-click your desktop's My Computer icon .
2. Double-click the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM icon.
3. Double-click "Autorun.exe". This should bring up the Autorun menu.
When you reinstall the product, you need to reinstall books from the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM. Then, if you have registered this product, you must restore the Registration ID.
If you must reinstall your product, don't worry -- you can redownload your previously purchased books.
To restore the Registration ID and download books, do the following:
1. In the Internet Registration dialog box, click the Restore Registration ID button or choose Restore Registration ID from the File menu.
2. Choose Restore Purchase Information from the Book menu.
3. Choose Download Books from the Book menu. All previously purchased books will be available for download.
Note: If you deleted a previously downloaded book from your Versabook library, this book will still appear in the Download Books Dialog Box and can be redownloaded.

BROWSER
If the product icon does not appear on your desktop, or if an error occurs while the program is running (for e.g. media item not displaying properly in Internet Explorer), you may have to reinstall your browser. To do this, just follow the Browser Reinstallation instructions.

IE BROWSER REINSTALLATION:
If you have Win95A or Win95 OSR2, and your Internet Explorer Browser is older than version IE 4.0 Service Pack 1, you should install the IE5 version. You can upgrade your browser from your CD or DVD-ROM
To install IE5:
1. From your CD or DVD-ROM go to the IE5 directory (IE/WIN 32/EN/) and run ie5setup.exe. (This will install the newer version of IE 5.0.).
With the newer IE5.0 version, you can purchase and download books from our online VersabookStore and access many special offers and features.

IE5 BROWSER COMPLICATIONS
If you experience media problems or your product crashes when opening articles, it is mostly likely due to an earlier version of Microsoft browser IE5.0. If you have an earlier version of IE5 than IE 5.00.2314.1003, you should:
1. Uninstall your old Internet Explorer.
2. Reboot your computer.
3. From your CD or DVD-ROM, go to the IE5 directory (IE/WIN 32/EN/) and run ie5setup.exe. (This will install the newer version of IE 5.0.).
If you are using a non-English version of Windows, you should:
1. Uninstall your old Internet Explorer.
2. Reboot your computer.
3. Download a newer version from the Microsoft download site - http:/www.microsoft.com/windows/IE and reinstall the newer browser.

MEDIA OR VIRTUAL REALITY COMPLICATIONS
If you have trouble seeing media or virtual reality extracts, install Quick Time 4 on your computer. It is available on your CD or DVD in the directory: /setup/Quick TimeInstaller.exe.

SOUNDS
If you have trouble hearing the sounds, install Real Media Player on your computer. It is available on your CD or DVD in the directory: /setup/Real Audio/rn6ainst_6_45.exe.
If you are using an Aztech sound card and experience sound problems, go to the Aztech Web Site (http://www.aztech.com.sg/c&t/index.htm) to download their latest sound card drivers.
If you experience sound problems, but you do not know which sound card you have:
1. Right-click the My Computer icon on your desktop and select Properties from the pop-up menu. The System Properties dialog box appears.
2. Select the Device Manager tab. "Sound, video and Game Controllers" appears at the bottom of the hardware list.
3. Click "+" to the left of the item to display the items under this heading. If you see an item labeled "Aztech Sound", copy down the identifying information and then go to the Aztech Site to download the appropriate drivers for your sound system.
If you still cannot identify your sound system, contact your hardware provider.

PRINTING COMPLICATIONS
If you are not satisfied with printing using Microsoft Word, use IE Explorer for printing.
To print using IE Explorer:
1. From the View menu, choose Options.
2. Select the Display & Play tab.
3. Mark the Print using Internet Explorer check box.
4. Click OK.

IMPORTING A LINK FROM A URL TO A BINDER
When importing a link from a URL to a Binder, do not click on a link on the Main (Home) web page until the Main page has finished downloading. Wait for the Main page to download completely and then go into a link and import the page to a Binder. This will prevent importing the Main web page instead of the article you desired.

ERROR MESSAGE:
If you receive the following error message:
"Versabook could not find the file..."
followed by the Versabook product closing, a file may have been erased from your hard-drive. To correct this, you may need to clean your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.
If the error message persists, uninstall and reinstall your product.
To do this:
1. Click the Windows Start menu.
2. Choose Settings and then click Control Panel.
3. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
4. Click the appropriate product entry from the list of program titles.
5. Click Add/Remove.
6. Answer "Yes" to all prompts.
7. Reboot your computer.
8. Reinstall the product.
When you have successfully uninstalled, place the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM in the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM tray and reinstall.

ERROR MESSAGE:
If you receive the following error message:
"The ordinal 6605 could not be located in the dynamic link library MFC42.DLL"
You should do the following:
1. Reboot the machine.
2. If this does not work, you will need to reinstall the product.
3. If you experience further problems with the same error message, you may have two copies of the file MCF42.dll installed on your computer.
Normally this file exists in the Windows System directory: C:\windows\system32\mfc42.dll.
The second copy of the file is unnecessary and should be renamed.
It can be found in:
C:\windows\MFC42.DLL and should be renamed as follows:
MFC42_.DLL
