Baldwin is the first Canadian to fly in an airplane, the Red Wing. 1909 John McCurdy flying the Silver Dart, is the first person to fly in Canada 1913 First time an airplane is used for transporation. 1914-1918 Over 20 000 Canadians flew in British squadrons during World War I. 1920 First passenger flown from Winnipeg to The Pas, 1924 Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) is formed, 1924 First scheduled passenger flights began. 1924 First airmail began to be delivered, 1936 Department of Transport formed. 1937 Trans Canada Airlines (TC A) is formed. 1939-1945 Canada's aerospace industry expanded rapidly because of World War II. 1942 Canadian Pacific Air Lines (CP Air) is formed. 1962 Wardair began chartered overseas flights. 1965 TCA changed its name to Air Canada. 1986 Wardair became one of Canada's major airlines. 1987 CP Air bought by Pacific Western Airlines Corp. (PWA Corp.) 1988 Air Canada no longer under govemment control. Wardair bought by PWA Corp.
