long description: Rapid Response tactical war simulation game by MVP Software.
You are the commanding general in this graphics wargame
of strategy and tactical troop deployment. As you
square off as against one of the eight different opposing
generals in the game, you discover just how well your
military cunning stacks up against the real thing. Req 286
or better, EGA/VGA; joystick is optional.
Requirements: 512K RAM, VGA/SVGA, microsoft-compatible mouse. $10 registration;
$20.00 for the three-volume Rapid Response trilogy.
Catalog vendors: Please include Rapid Response in your printed and disk
shareware catalogs. For best sales results use one of the
above descriptions. In addition, all MVP product listings
MUST include the words "by MVP Software" or "an MVP Software
production." This encourages repeat sales, which is good
for both of us. The only exception to this is if the catalog
has a separate MVP Software section. No vendor may charge a
fee of more than $8.00 for the shareware version of this
product.
Vendors are encouraged to contact MVP Software directly to get
the latest version of the product and to be added to our
mailing list for direct mailings of updates & future releases.
Rackware vendors and CD-ROM publishers: Please read our rackware and CD-ROM
distribution policy below.
Rapid Response may be distributed via BBSs, shareware printed or on-disk
catalogs, and at swap meets, flea markets or computer shows. For all other
forms of shareware distribution please contact Dave Snyder at MVP Software for
distribution permission. See LICENSE.DOC for details.

Introducing the MVP Distribution Network
Have you heard about the MVP Distribution Network? MVP Software is joining
forces with BBS sysops in a joint effort that will help both of us. I'd like
to invite you to become a member of the MVPDN. Here's how it can benefit you.
Near and dear to all sysops' hearts are callers. If you run a subscription
BBS, then more callers means more money. If you run a free BBS, then more
callers means that more people are finding what they want on your system.
Participating in the MVPDN will increase the traffic on your board.
Participating sysops in the MVPDN receive all of our popular games and
entertainment-related shareware directly from MVP Software, before it is
available on other boards or from shareware disk vendors.
What about the quality of our games? Good question. AOL chose Sand Storm as
a Top Pick for September 1992. PsL News chose both Robomaze II and Robomaze
III as the top new arcade games of 1991, tied with several Apogee games.
Corncob 3D, our award-winning flight sim, was nominated in two categories by
the Shareware Industry Awards, received an Editor's Choice in Shareware
Magazine, and has been favorably reviewed in PC/Games, Nuts and Volts, In
Flight, Computer Gaming World, and several other publications. In 1994 MVP
Bridge (DOS) was chosen by Computer Gaming World as best shareware card game
of the year and was nominated by PC Magazine as one of the five best shareware
games of the year, all categories.
And the best is yet to come. We now have 20 talented development teams. In
1994 we have releaseed our first shareware educational game, the Sea School
Series. Designed by a teacher, it combines education, outstanding graphics,
and fun for early learners like never before in shareware. Bloody April, our
next-generation 256-color air combat game has features not found in most
commercial flight sims. And in 1994 MVP has released the first four of our
Windows games.
Don't miss out! Be the first BBS in your area to carry these hot new
shareware products! These are just some of the reasons to join the MVPDN now
and grow with us. It's easy to join the MVP Distribution Network. Here's
what you do.
1. Not all boards qualify to be a distribution site for MVP Software. We
would love to have them all, but since we mail all new releases and updates
directly to each sysop, the cost is prohibitive. So to qualify, your board
MUST be online 24 hours a day. I'm sorry, but we can't support part-time
boards.
2. Call MVP's home BBS, Ryan's Bar, at 616-456-1845 or 616-456-5342. Download
all the files in the MVP file section. These are the files you should post
on your board in the MVP section. Call Dave Snyder at (616) 245-8376
(voice) so we can add your name and address to our database. If you have
difficulty getting through to Ryan's Bar, download the MVP files from
Exec-PC, the world's largest BBS, by calling (414) 789-4360. Look for the
free MVP file section.
3. It is best if you use a high-speed modem to download the files. It will
take you a long time at 2400 baud. <g>
4. Create a file section on your system called MVP SOFTWARE. This file
section will contain all MVP shareware products.
5. Post the MVP bulletin and the MVP log-on message on your board to let
your users know you are a distribution site. These are found in the
SYSOPMVP.ZIP file.
6. We will notify yo of new releases and updates. You will also receive our
periodic sysop newsleter, MVPDN News.
And that's all there is to it! I hope you will join us today.

RACKWARE VENDORS AND CD-ROM PUBLISHERS AND RESELLERS
MVP Software has a policy on shareware rack vending and CD-ROM distribution
to which all CD-ROM publishers and vendors selling our shareware in a retail
location MUST adhere. No MVP Software shareware product may be sold on
shareware racks in any retail location or on any CD-ROM without prior written
approval from MVP Software. This policy affects Rapid Response, plus all
other MVP products. Thanks for your understanding.
All MVP shareware products may be sold via catalogs, mail order, telephone
orders, flea markets, computer clubs, and any other method that does not
involve sales in retail locations or on CD-ROMs.
We will give permission to rack vendors to sell our products in retail
locations only if the following conditions are met: (1) The vendor must pay
MVP Software a royalty on all copies sold in retail locations. This does not
include any other type of shareware sales. Suggested royalty is 10 cents per
copy sold. (2) The vendor must provide reports to MVP Software not less than
quarterly of all rack sales minus returns.
Authorization to distribute MVP Software shareware products on a CD-ROM will
be handled on a case by case basis. Publishers and distributors MUST contact
MVP Software for written authorization before including Rapid Response on a
CD-ROM.
Rack vendors meeting the above conditions must still receive written
authorization from MVP Software to distribute our products on shareware racks.
Permission may not be given in all cases; the decision will be on a case-by-
case basis, and we usually will want to inspect the packaging before granting
distribution permission.
And just to be clear: the above requirements do NOT apply to catalog sales.
