  67.  Section 1:  Getting Started & Hardware Requirements

  71.     100% Microsoft or Logitech compatible with latest driver

  74.     Start your computer as you normally would (with the DOS diskette)
  75.     then insert the EGA Mouse Paint Diskette into drive "A", at the
  76.     DOS prompt type in "A:\EGAMP". The program may run slowly from
  77.     diskette but is acceptable.

  79.     Hard Disk System;
  80.     Start your computer as you normally would. Make a directory
  81.     for EGAMP (consult your DOS manual for instructions on how to
  82.     make a directory and copy files). Copy all the files from your
  83.     EGA Mouse Paint diskette into this directory. At the DOS prompt
  84.     type in "EGAMP" to run the program.

  87.  PRECAUTIONS:
  88.     To insure proper operation of the program it is best to place it
  89.     in its own directory. This is only a precaution, progams that
  90.     are in thier own directories do not bother or are not bothered by
  91.     any other program. This is not a must, just good practice.

  96.  SECTION 2:  EGA Mouse Paint in Windows
  97.  
  98.     To use EGA Mouse Paint in Windows 3.0 and install the Icon, use
  99.     the normal procedure to start Windows. Select the window in which
  100.     you want to install the program (refer to your windows manual for
  101.     installation of programs). Once you have installed the program in
  102.     Windows, single click on the program just to highlight it. Pull
  103.     down the "FILE" menu and select properties. Click on change icon.
  104.     In the "File Name Box", type in the Drive:\path\icon.name,
  105.     (ie: C:\EGAMP\EGAMP.ICO). Click OK & OK. You should now have the
  106.     FMS icon on the screen above EGA Mouse Paint. If you have a
  107.     problem with this procedure consult your windows manual.
  108.     MAY NOT RUN IN WINDOWS "/R" MODE.....

  125.  Section 3:  Main Menu Screen
  126.  
  127.  Picture Select: When the main menu screen appears you have a choice
  128.     of selecting a picture. To select a picture, point to the
  129.     picture you would like to color and click on it. You should
  130.     now have a picture to paint. The pointing finger cursor is for
  131.     selecting pictures, when it changes to a crayon you can color.
  132.  
  133.  Coloring &
  134.  Color Selection: Point to the color you would like to use and click
  135.     on it. Now move the crayon over to the picture and click
  136.     anywhere within the picture to fill that area. When coloring a
  137.     picture the menu buttons will ask for verification (yes/no).
  138.     You can color any picture within its boundaries with any
  139.     color that is available from the palette at the right of
  140.     the screen. If you want to select another palette of patterns
  141.     to color with just click on the color box when a picture is on
  142.     the screen. This will toggle back and forth.
  143.  
  144.  Page Select: There are 14 pictures to select from on page one and
  145.     another 15 pictures to select on page two. To select a
  146.     picture from page two put the crayon cursor over the
  147.     page button and click the mouse. This will work in both
  148.     directions. (Toggle between page 1 and page 2)
  149.  
  150.  New Picture: Once you have selected or are tired of coloring the
  151.     picture that is on the screen, you can select another
  152.     picture by clicking on the "New Picture" button. The button is
  153.     located on the bottom of the screen.  This button will return
  154.     you back to the main menu page where you originally selected
  155.     the picture. You must verify your choice (yes/no).

  157.  Clear: Clear the picture that is presently on the screen of all colors.
  158.     This button will allow you to start over coloring the picture
  159.     you are working on. You must verify your choice (yes/no).
  160.  
  161.  Quit: This button exits the Program and returns to the DOS environment.
  162.     You must only verify this choice in the painting screens.

  164.  Section 4:  Using the Timer
  165.  
  166.     The timer is located in the bottom right corner of the main menu screen.
  167.     It can only be started in the main menu page 1 screen. It is started
  168.     by pointing to the box (inactive) and clicking the left mouse button.
  169.     You will be asked to enter a time value (in minutes). You may insert any
  170.     value up to 45. To deactivate the timer function you must go back to the
  171.     main menu page 1. Click on the box again and enter either 0 or 46, you
  172.     may also just press the enter key. Once the timer is active it will
  173.     count down, sound an alarm then reset to the time you selected.

  184.  Section 5:  Using the ScreenSaver
  185.  
  186.     In the Upper left corner of the screen is a box "S". If you click on
  187.     this portion of the screen you will start the ScreenSaver function.
  188.     This will allow you to interrupt the program while you answer the dinner
  189.     bell and return to the same spot you stopped. Once you start the
  190.     ScreenSaver it will not ask for verification but will start instantly.
  191.     To return to the drawing just press the space bar. The program will
  192.     reinstall the picture you were working on where you left off so you
  193.     can continue to color. The program no longer writes the screen to
  194.     disk. It's fun just to watch once in a while.
  195.  
  196.  Section 6:  Using Arrow-Draw
  197.  
  198.     The Arrow-Draw function is in the lower right hand box on page 1
  199.     (the 15th box). To use Arrow-Draw, click on its box the same as a
  200.     a drawing. Point and click on the point that you want to start your
  201.     sketch. Once the window turns blank you can start to draw.
  202.     You can use the arrow keys or the numeric keys for diagonal lines
  203.     (num lock must be off to use numeric keys). When you press the space bar
  204.     the line will change from a light gray color to a darker shade of gray.
  205.     The coloring portion in this section will only recognize the lighter gray
  206.     as its boundaries. This will allow you to move around the screen and make
  207.     shapes in different areas, when you color in your  picture the program
  208.     will only fill the lighter gray areas. Once you are finished making your
  209.     picture and are ready to color it in, press the "q" key on the keyboard.
  210.     You will now see the cursor with which you can select a color and start
  211.     coloring.  The clear button is inactive in this screen. The ScreenSaver
  212.     also works in this screen. The "New Picture" button will return you to
  213.     the main menu screen after you verify your choice (yes/no).

  216.  Section 7:  About Shareware
  217.  
  218.     Shareware is a try-before-you-buy process in which you are allowed to use
  219.     the program for a specific amount of time. This time will vary from
  220.     software to software.  The grace period for this program is three weeks.
  221.     If after that time you find this program useful you are expected to
  222.     register with the author (see registration Information below). If however
  223.     after the specified time you do not find the program useful you are
  224.     required to remove it from use. Remember that the shareware system will
  225.     only work if you support it by registering your program with the author.
  226.     This also encourages the authors of shareware to continue to write quality
  227.     programs, upgrade existing programs and supply support.
  228.  
  229.     If you choose not to register, we would still like to hear about any
  230.     comments or suggestions you have about EGA Mouse Paint.

  248.     problem along with the version number of the program.

  250.     technical problems. We will be glad to do everything we can to get your
  251.     problems solved quickly. Please limit calls to problems ONLY,
  252.     send in your comments or suggestions. Note: We will NOT accept collect

  259.     There are many good ideas which we are looking at from user suggestions. 
  260.     Some of these will be included in future upgrades. 
  261.     KEEP SENDING the ideas when you register.

  265.     hear from you as to what you would like to see in future version of the
  266.     program.  Note: Registered users will be the first to be notified of

  272.     Clubs, Individuals and other Organizations are granted permission to
  273.     freely distribute this program and its associated documents by
  274.     Distribution Requirements;

  310.     1. The second page of the title screen will now display your kid's
  311.        names when you send them in with the registration.

  322.     Registration entitles you to the latest version of the program as they
  323.     become available. You can also call us with any problems (see Tech
  324.     support). Only registered users will receive over the phone help.
  325.     We will verify registrations. As a registered user you will be the first
  326.     one to be informed of any major upgrades or modifications made to the
  327.     program. Your comments / suggestions will have the highest consideration
  328.     for incorporation into the program. Please be sure to include your kids
  329.     names for the title screen.

  490.     If your Kid's like to color then they will enjoy using the mouse
  491.     to color in any of 29 pre-made pictures. There are 42 colors and
  492.     patterns to select from in EGA Mouse Paint. The program is very easy
  493.     to use, just point to the picture you want to color and click the
  494.     mouse button. Additional features include arrow-draw (use the
  495.     arrow keys to draw a picture), timer (when more than one child is
  496.     trying to use the program) & a screensaver.
