  1. Welcome to Hugo II, Whodunit!

  3. Hugo II is the sequel to Hugo's
  4. House of Horrors in which Hugo
  5. overcame extreme odds to snatch
  6. his beloved Penelope from the
  7. occupants of the haunted house.
  8.  
  9. In Hugo II we join our intrepid
  10. heroes as they attempt to enjoy a
  11. much-needed vacation at the house
  12. of Hugo's Great Uncle Horace.  All
  13. is not as it seems, though, and our
  14. heroes get caught up in a tale of
  15. mystery, suspense and adventure...

  19. You may control Hugo's motion with
  20. the arrow keys or keypad.  You may
  21. also give him simple commands to
  22. pick up or look at something which
  23. catches your eye.  A very useful
  24. phrase would be "open the door",
  25. on the first screen, for example.
  26. Others are "look", and "look at..."
  27. You may also try other commands if
  28. you think they would help, such as
  29. "talk to..." or "listen" etc.
  30.  
  31. On your travels, be on the lookout
  32. for objects (sometimes hidden) which
  33. may prove useful in your travels.

  37. Some notes on the function keys:
  38. Press F2 to toggle the sound on/off
  39.  
  40. F4 & F5 allow you to save & restore
  41. your game.  This is very useful just
  42. before you are about to enter a new
  43. room or do something dangerous!
  44. You can also type SAVE or RESTORE
  45. instead of using the function keys.

  47. F6 allows you to see what objects
  48. you are currently carrying.

  52. F9 is the "Boss Button" for people
  53. who like to sneak in a game during
  54. office hours!  It simply shells you
  55. out to DOS.  You must hit EXIT to
  56. rejoin your game.

  58. This button will allow you to keep
  59. a game going "in the background"
  60. while you do your normal work in
  61. its DOS shell!
