Introduction
Welcome to Conquest! This is a strategy game similar to RISK,
and other 'Conquer the World' type games. It has many options to
make the game more interesting, but you may want to wait until after
you have played a few games before you try them. One of my design
objectives was to create a simple user interface which removes
unnecessary keystrokes, and leaves as much room on the screen as
possible for the game map. As a result, EGA and a mouse or trackball
are required to play Conquest. For information on how to play the
game, either run the game and use the built in help screens, or read
the file 'Guide.doc.' Write me a note if I can be of help.
Features of Conquest Version 1.6:
1. Conquest now supports Team play! You can join forces with a
human or computer opponent. Each team can have 1 to 7 members.
Each player can only use his own armies to play, however the
continents can be jointly owned, and each team divides the
number of new armies equally among its members - no matter what
the individual standings of the members are.
2. A new set up option titled: "Penalty for attacking new
continent" has been added. If this option is selected, then it
becomes more difficult to win a battle if your opponent is on a
different continent than your attacking force is on. The rationale
for this is that indigenous troops have an advantage in a battle over
troops attacking after a long boat ride.
3. New Player information screens have been added for use after
the game starts.
4. The number of armies in each territory is now colored in black
instead of dark gray.
5. The screens for placing armies now "roll over". That is, at the
end of an attack you can use only the "PLUS" or "MINUS" squares to
roll through all possible number of armies to place.
6. Because I have changed the game algorithms, you will not be able
to load games saved from older versions of Conquest (but you can
still use any map ever created for Conquest).
7. Please give me feedback on version 1.6. I have made a lot of changes,
and I want to be sure they are for the better!
