Hi to all AWE32 users,
Here's a fix for your new AWE32. It *should* work, provided your AWE32
is set at it's default MIDI settings (MEM=220/ IRQ=5/ DMA=1/ MIDIPORT=330).
If these defaults aren't set, then I don't promise anything.
Here's what you have to do:
1. Unzip this file (oops - you've already done that!)
No... actually you have to make sure you've unzipped it to
your WARLORD2 directory.
2. Run the batch file FIX.BAT
3. Run the sound installation program INSTALL
4. Set your "music card" to a Sound Canvas
5. Fire up the game - that's all folks ;-)
6. If you ever want to get rid of this patch, run the
batch file UNFIX.BAT.
A few notes:
I have given you our new AWE32 driver. Unfortunately there is no
provision for it in the WARLORD2 game, so we are copying it over
the SOUND CANVAS driver. If ever you want to set the game up to
run a Sound Canvas, then you must run UNFIX.BAT first.
The songs being played are written specifically for the Sound Canvas.
Some of them sound fine (most of them in fact). A couple might sound
strange. The two sound sets are meant to be compatible, but they're
not quite... (notably if a trumpet gets used!)
All future SSG games will feature one set of music specifically
written for the AWE32 - it's an excellent sound card!
Enjoy,
Steve Fawkner / SSG
