DOOM WADS
Welcome to this month's hand picked selection of Doom II WADS. The four
most outstanding WADS we've run across this month are as follows:
ABOO5TH.ZIP -- Doomstone
ROMERO.EXE -- Chapel of Romero (It really is!)
MOM5.ZIP -- Made of Metal 5
SLUGHTER.ZIP -- Slaughterhouse (fitting name for this WAD)
All of these files can be found in the \DOOM directory on our CD. As always,
just copy the files into your DOOM or DOOM2 directory (or wherever you
installed the game).
RUNNING WADS
If you're wondering what to do with a Doom WAD once you copy it into your
DOOM or DOOM2 directory, here are a few tips.
There's usually a TXT file for you to read, and some even include a batch
file for loading the WAD. If you're left clueless, the standard procedure
is to type: DOOMX -FILE WADNAME.WAD
* where DOOMX = your Doom executable command, either DOOM or DOOM2
* where -FILE = would appear just as it is
* where WADNAME.WAD = is the name of the WAD file you wish to load
i.e. If the game is Doom 2 and the WAD name is SPIDERS4.WAD, you'd type:
DOOM2 -FILE SPIDERS4.WAD.
This doesn't always work, they're just general guidelines. As with all WADS,
updates, add-ons or patches make sure your original files are backed up. PC
Gamer will not accept any responsibility for problems caused by these files.
