  1. HODJ `N' PODJ DEMO INSTALLATION

  4. This fun-tastic demo of Hodj `n'Podj contains a narrated slideshow, a 
  5. chance to sample several mini-games including Art Parts, Peggleboz, 
  6. Cryptograms, Maze o' Doom, and Riddles, as well as a delicious, fat-free 
  7. source of outrageous marketing hype. The demo is shipped on a single CD-
  8. ROM. For best performance, you should install the demo on your hard disk 
  9. drive; to do so, you'll need 22 MB of free space on your hard drive.

  12. MINIMUM HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS
  13. -----------------------------
  14. 386/33 Mhz processor
  15. 4MB RAM
  16. 640x480 Super VGA monitor & graphics card, with 256 colors
  17. CD-ROM drive with minimum of 150KB/sec transfer rate
  18. 8-bit Windows-compatible sound card
  19. MS-DOS 5.0 or higher, Windows 3.1

  22. RECOMMENDED CONFIGURATION
  23. -------------------------
  24. For best results, use a 486 CPU running at 33Mhz or faster, with 8 MB of 
  25. RAM. Set your Super VGA monitor & graphics card for 640 x 480 pixel 
  26. resolution and 256 colors with "small fonts".  Install the demo to your 
  27. hard disk drive (22 MB of space required).

  30. HARD DISK INSTALLATION
  31. ----------------------
  32. 1.  Make sure you have at least 22 MB of free space on your hard drive.
  33.     Note: If you do not have enough space when you run Setup, the demo will
  34.     be set up to run from your CD.

  36. 2.  Insert the Demo disk in the CD-ROM drive of your PC.
  37.  
  38. 3.  Choose Run from the Program Manager File menu and, in the command
  39.     line box, type:    D:\SETUP
  40.  
  41.     where D is  the drive letter associated with the CD-ROM drive.  You will
  42.     be prompted for the destination drive and directory.  Files will then copy
  43.     to your hard drive; this will take several minutes.

  45. 4.  If you do not already have Video for Windows installed on your system, or
  46.     if you are unsure, run the Video for Windows setup by double clicking on
  47.     the "Video for Windows Setup" icon in the "Games" group.  You may be
  48.     prompted to restart windows.  If this is the case, then restart windows.

  50. 5.  Run the demo by double clicking on the "Hodj 'n' Podj" icon in the  "Games"
  51.     group in Program Manager.

  54. PLAYING THE DEMO FROM THE CD-ROM

  56. 1.  Insert the Demo disk in the CD-ROM drive of your PC.

  58. 2.  Choose Run from the Program Manager File menu and, in the command
  59.     line box, type:    D:\HNPDEMO
  60.     where D is the drive letter associated with the CD-ROM drive.

  63. A GREAT RECIPE FOR HOT AND SOUR SOUP
  64. ------------------------------------
  65. 5 cups water
  66. 6 tablespoons soy sauce
  67. 5 oz pork
  68. 8 oz bean curd, firm (tofu)
  69. 5 large shitake mushrooms
  70. 1/4 cup Chinese tree-ear mushrooms
  71. 1/4 cup golden needle mushrooms
  72. 1/4 cup rice wine vinegar
  73. 2 teaspoons fresh-ground pepper
  74. 2 eggs, scrambled
  75. 1 tablespoon cold water
  76. 1 tablespoon corn starch
  77.  
  78. Soak mushrooms in hot water for 20 minutes; drain. Combine the 
  79. cornstarch with the tablespoon of cold water. Slice the pork, tofu, and 
  80. shitakes into matchstick-sized pieces. Combine all ingredients but the 
  81. eggs and the cornstarch mixture. Heat until boiling. Reduce heat and 
  82. cook for 10 more minutes. Add eggs while stirring constantly. Remove 
  83. from heat and add cornstarch mixture. Serve at once, with extra vinegar 
  84. and pepper available on the side. For best results, serve along with a 
  85. perfectly-prepared Peking Duck.
