4) Troubleshooting
--------------------------------
Why is my game crashing?
=====================
In order for your to run this game, your hardware must be
certified to work with Microsoft DirectX 7. Your system must be
100% compatible with DirectX to ensure the game will work.
To check the status of DirectX 6 on your computer:
1. Click on Start.
2.Highlight Find and click Files or Folders
3.Search your C: drive for the file called DXDIAG.EXE
4.Double click the icon that is found to launch the DirectX
Diagnostic Tools window.
5. Check your Display and Sound pages for Certified: YES.
If either says Certified: NO, you must contact your
computer manufacturer for updated drivers. Call them
(or check http://www.windrivers.com for links to hardware
driver pages) and get drivers that are certified to work
with DirectX 7. If they cannot provide you with that,
your system does not meet the minimum requirement to run
the game.
If my drivers aren't updated, who do I contact?
======================================
You can check to see what your sound and video card by going
through the following steps. Once you have located the
manufacturer of your card, you can go to the companies website
(found easily at http://www.windrivers.com) and download the
latest (DirectX 7 Compatible) drivers. Download and install
those drivers to bring your system up to date.
1. Click on Start
2. Highlight Settings and click Control Panel
3. Double-click your System icon
4. Click Device Manager to bring up the hardware list in your
computer. Your video card will be listed under
Display Adapter Your sound card will be listed under
Sound, Video and Game Controllers. Write down the
company and model number of those items and do an
advance search at Windrivers.com to find the driver you
need. Remember if your card does not have drivers
loaded that are compatible with DirectX 6, your game does
not meet the minimum requirement to play the game.
Why is my Gamepad not working?
===========================
If your game controller is not responding make sure it is
configured and calibrated in your Windows Control Panel. To
check how to do this:
1. Click on Start
2. Highlight Settings and click Control Panel
3. Double click your Game Controller icon
4. Make sure your game controller is listed and shows a status
of "OK".
If it is blank you should "Add" your controller, or troubleshoot
your controller if it is listed as "Not Connected." If your
joystick/gamepad/steering wheel is listed but not functioning
properly click Properties and then follow the steps to Calibrate
your controller.
Why can't I get the game installed?
============================
There are a few things you can do to ensure your installation
goes smoothly
1. Before you begin, run Scandisk and Defrag to optimize the hard
disk before installation and ensure there are no disk
problems that would prevent installation.
2. Next, turn off all other programs including anti-virus
software, crash guard, and clean sweep to ensure they do
not interfere with the installation. Use Ctrl+Alt+Delete
to bring up the Close Program window and 'End Task' on
everything listed EXCEPT Explorer and Systray.
3. Finally, delete all files in C:\WINDOWS\TEMP before
installing. InstallShield installers will usually want to
expand files into this directory before putting them in
the proper directory. If there are files present before
installation, they may cause problems during install
(Especially if a file of the same name is already there.)
4. Finally, you may try installing the game through the Start>Run
menu with the command line: D:\Setup.exe nosyscheck
(assuming "D" is your CD drive)
------------------------------
5) Known Issues
------------------------------
-The buttons for your Joystick/Gamepad can not be changed.
-You must use either D3D or Glide to run the game, the software
version will not work.
-If you have a fresh install of Windows 95, you MUST install
Windows Media Player and DirectX 7.0 from www.microsoft.com. The
game will not work if you do not install these.
-Some USB Controllers will cause the game to crash.
