  1. **This program has FAILED to detect a resident VESA Video Driver.**
  2.  
  3. Because Links 386 CD requires a VESA driver in order to operate,
  4. it is imperative one is installed and operating properly.  Follow
  5. the instructions below.

  9. Installing and Testing Your Vesa Video Driver
  10.  
  11. A VESA Video driver that supports a 640x480 resolutions is 
  12. required for LINKS 386 CD.  For most new systems, the driver is built 
  13. on the card and the game will "just work".  
  14.  
  15. If you do require a driver to operate, one is usually included 
  16. with your video card.  Whenever possible we would encourage you 
  17. to use this driver.
  18.  
  19. Should you require a driver, and one is not supplied by your video
  20. card manufacture, please follow the following instructions.
  21.  
  22.     1)  UNIVBE51 VIDEO DRIVER
  23.            The UNIVESA VIDEO DRIVER is a Shareware driver that works 
  24.            with a wide variety of video cards and requires little user
  25.            intervention for installation.  Because this is a share-
  26.            ware product, it will expire after 21 days.
  27.    
  28.          Installation:
  29.          Windows 95:  Select RUN from the Start Menu and type:
  30.            D:\UNIVBE51\INSTALL (where D is the drive letter of the CD
  31.            ROM).  Follow the instructions given.
  32.          
  33.          DOS:  From the DOS Prompt type: D:\UNIVBE51\INSTALL (where
  34.            D is the drive letter of the CD ROM).  Follow the 
  35.            instructions given on the screen.

  37.     2)  Another option we have included is SETVESA.  This program 
  38.            will attempt to determine your video card, then install a
  39.            driver for it.  This program requires more user intervention
  40.            but will assure the correct driver for the video card.
  41.  
  42.          This program should not be run from Windows 95.  To run
  43.            SETVESA, shutdown Windows 95 by selecting SHUTDOWN from the
  44.            Start Menu and select RESTART THE COMPUTER IN MS-DOS MODE.

  46.          DOS:  In DOS type:  D:\SETVESA    (where D is the drive letter
  47.            of your CD ROM).  Once the program begins, you will see 
  48.            several options, choose AUTOMATIC METHOD if you are a novice
  49.            user, or select MANUAL METHOD if you understand how to 
  50.            edit files and load drivers.
