  37. The WV1160 disk included with this Application Note contains an
  38. updated run-time version of Microsoft Video for Windows. Video 1.1e
  39. for Windows retains all the improvements that were included in version
  40. 1.1d of Video for Windows, but does not include the low-level driver
  41. code that was licensed from Intel Corporation.

  46. The following files are changed in version 1.1e:

  56. PREVIOUS IMPROVEMENTS TO VIDEO FOR WINDOWS
  57. ------------------------------------------

  59.  - Improved palette support. The new version of MSVIDEO.DLL and the
  60.    Cinepak and Indeo codecs prevent Video for Windows from having to
  61.    dither 24-bit videos twice during playback.
  62.  
  63.  - Display Control Interface (DCI) support. DCI allows Video for
  64.    Windows to provide faster and smoother playback on video adapters
  65.    that use the S3, Cirrus Logic, or any one of several other chip
  66.    sets. Video for Windows now supports all DCI-enabled video
  67.    adapters. The performance of stretched and clipped videos is also
  68.    much improved for all video adapters.

  70.  - Better overall performance.

  72.  - Improved simultaneous playback of two .AVI files.
  73.  
  74.  - Improved playback of loosely interleaved or noninterleaved files
  75.    with NetWare(R) Video.

  77.  - Improved performance of video playback, correcting a problem that
  78.    caused shaky playback.

  80.  - The compression algorithm was changed to meet the official
  81.    Interactive Multimedia Association adaptive-differential-pulse-code-
  82.    modulation (ADPCM) format specification fully.

  84.  - A general protection (GP) fault problem was corrected. This problem
  85.    occurred when you clicked embedded Video 1.1 for Windows media
  86.    objects in OLE 2.0 clients.

  88.  - A slight memory leak that occurred with embedded objects was
  89.    corrected.

  91. INSTALLING VIDEO 1.1E FOR WINDOWS RUN-TIME EDITION

  94. 1. If you received a disk with this Application Note, insert the disk
  95.    in the appropriate floppy disk drive.
  96.  
  97.    If you downloaded this Application Note from an online service,
  98.    skip to step 2. This procedure assumes that you have already
  99.    downloaded and extracted the compressed file.

  101. 2. From the Program Manager File menu, choose Run. In the Command Line
  102.    box, type the following line and then press ENTER
  103.  
  104.       <source>:\setup
  105.  
  106.    where <source> is either the letter of your floppy disk drive or
  107.    the directory containing the file you downloaded from online
  108.    services. For example, if you are installing from a floppy disk
  109.    that you inserted in drive A:

  111.       a:\setup

  113.    Or, for example, if you downloaded the WV1160.EXE file from online
  114.    services to C:\DOWNLOAD:

  118. 3. Follow the instructions in the Setup program to finish installing
  119.    Video 1.1e for Windows.
