supplying each unit with its own power sourse,
the problems with the older chemical lasers were

The Gatling Maser Array is supplied with no
less than 7 reactors per cannon, making its
recharge rate less than 3 seconds, and ROF of
over 100 shots in 10 seconds. Few ships are
capable of absorbing this kind of punishment.
