  7.     In a drive to cut off the garrison at Ladysmith
  8. a Boer advanced column makes camp(laager) at 
  9. Elandslaagte, Natal.  Discovering a communications
  10. loss via the railroad and telegraph through 
  11. Elandslaagte, British Cavlary discover the small
  12. Boer Force.  
  13.     Acting on the chance to wipe out this small
  14. force General White, commander of the garrison
  15. at Ladysmith, orders an assualt.  The Devonshire
  16. Battalion made a frontal assualt on the Boer posistion
  17. while the Manchester, Gordon Highlaner, and Imperial 
  18. Light Horse Battlions(Squadrons for ILH) wheeled around
  19. the left flank of the Boer Posistions.  
  20.     Fighting was heavy around the main Boer posistion
  21. bogging down British troops until General White 
  22. rallied them.  They then stormed the posistions forcing 
  23. the Boers to retreat.  The 5th Dragoons and 5th Lancers 
  24. then charged the fleeing Boers killing many.
