The PC Gamer Disk Patch Index

T. Liam McDonald has been keeping PC Gamer readers abreast of many
of the latest game patches in his Extended Play column. Now,
instead of just reading about them, we'll place them right in your
hands! Here are all of the patches McDonald has mentioned so far:

Aegis v 1.0 (ACDFX1.ZIP) - Fixes the "General CD Failure" error,
and repairs the problems of crashing to DOS after entering the
Electronic Book.

Arena: The Elder Scrolls (ARFIX.ZIP) - Fixes Quadrant Jerk on
faster PCs.

Archon Ultra (AU1021.EXE) - Takes care of most of the video and
Sound Blaster 16 problems. If you are having trouble with the
DOS4GW driver, try running ARCHON1 instead of ARCHON to start the
game.

Comanche: Maximum Overkill (CMOM2C.EXE) - Fixes problems with
Pentium processors, and the Diamond Stealth Pro video card.

Crusaders of the Dark Savant (DS.ZIP) - Replaces the DS.EXE file
to fix reboot problems with Pentiums. Note: This is still in beta
testing!

CyberRace (CRDISK.ZIP) - For those who have problems allocating
enough base memory or using the joystick. Disk based version only.
(CR122P.ZIP) - Fixes the Pentium/PCI bug in the disk version and
includes other small updates.

Dark Side of Xeen (NEWDAR.EXE) - Town Portal Fix: Solves the
crashing problem with the items of Town Portal.

Detroit (DETUP1.EXE) - For those with a DET001.EXE dated earlier
than 5/27/94, this patch handles modem problems; crashes; phantom
workers that appear on some machines; interest calculations and
general accounting; and numerous other play tweaks.

Early Match CD-ROM (MATHCD.ZIP) - Eliminates a "General Protection
Fault" error.

El-Fish (ELFISH.ZIP) - Has a patch for people having trouble
running in Hi-Res mode, or on Pentiums.

Fables & Friends: The Legend of Kyrandia v 1.3 (KYRAPT.ZIP) -
Addresses lockups and corrects some of the phrasing used by the
characters.

Fables & Friends: The Hand of Fate (HOFPCH.ZIP) - Corrects lockups
on Pentiums and very fast 486s.

Fleet Defender v 1.2 (F14V12.ZIP) - General maintenance patch.

Gabriel Knight (GK110A.ZIP) - Included in this patch is an updated
version of the DOS extender, as well as other corrections designed
to eliminate problems with sound cards under certain system
configurations. Save and restore problems should also be fixed, as
should lockups when exiting interrogation, as well as a number of
the game's other potential conversation problems.

Gabriel Knight CD-ROM (GKCDPT.ZIP) - Fixes all known problems, and
speeds up the restoring of saved games. Warning - this will
invalidate your prior saved games!

Global Domination (GLOBMO.EXE) - Fixes various modem play bugs.
(GLOBHI.EXE) - Replaces figure of Bismarck with that of Hitler.

The Grandest Fleet (TGFCDU.EXE) - Fixes some minor officer ranking
and savegame problems, and advanced rules.

The Horde v 1.1 (HORDPA.EXE) - Now supports Media Vision's Pro
Audio line of sound cards. This patch also fixes freeze ups when
using some Sony CD-ROM drives that would not play the CD music
properly, as well as freezes during the first building stage in the
Shimto Plains. It also shows the scrolling of the End Credits, and
a glitch in which archers and knights would not disappear after
being killed by large snowballs in the Frozen Wastes of Vesh.

INCA (INCPAT.ZIP) - Eliminates lockups and graphics problems on
faster machines.

INCA CD-ROM (INCACD.ZIP) - Corrects problems with certain CD-ROM
and sound drivers.

Indy Car Racing (ICR104.ZIP) - Repairs modem play and problems with
scrolling menus when using steering devices with no y-axis.
(ICR102.ZIP) - Fixes problems with Acer Computers and computers
using Acer Bios, as well as random crashes and insufficient memory
messages when using the start-up disk. Does not include modem fix!
(GRAVIS.ZIP) - Needed to use the Gravis Ultrasound board.

Jack Nicklaus Signature Edition (GOLF.EXE) - Removes the copy
protection from the game so you no longer need to use the code-
wheel to start the game.

Jutland (AUDIO.EXE) - Fixes problems with sound cards. (PATCH1.ZIP)
- Allows the game to recognize sound card addresses other than 220.

Lands of Lore CD-ROM (LLCDPT.ZIP) - Allows the use of a
Waveblaster/Sound Blaster 16 combo, and fixes lockups on fast
machines.

Lands of Lore v 1.22 (LOLP11.ZIP) - This patch fixes various
problems, including the inability to retrieve Dawn's key, and
lockups on fast machines.

Lands of Lore: The Throne of Chaos v 1.23 (LOLP123.ZIP) - Corrects
*problems associated with Dawn's key, as well as well as lockups
when choosing a character on some Pentium and DX2-66 machines.

Lost Treasures of Infocom CD-ROM (ZORK0.MG1) - This new patch
allows VGA for ZORK ZERO.

Mortal Kombat (MKFIX.ZIP) - Improves sound card support, fixes some
crashes, requires less conventional memory, and adds local bus
mode.

Nomad (NOMPAT.ZIP) - Fixes the trade inventory bug.

Outpost v 1.1 (OUTP11.EXE) - Contains a new beginner level, a more
play-balanced "easy" level, a tutorial, a saved game, and
miscellaneous improvements.

Pacific Strike v F1.19 (PSPATC.EXE) - Nine fixes, including better
AI for divebombing and minor frame rate enhancements.

Pacific War v 1.4 (PW14.ZIP) - Gary Grigsby's latest tweak patch
includes some new bombs and torpedoes, and  changes the
effectiveness of some 16" naval shells. Not an official SSI patch!

Police Quest 4 (PQ4CUF.ZIP) - Allows more time to handcuff Walker
in the disk-based version.

Putt-Putt Joins the Parade CD-ROM (PPCDP.ZIP) - Adds support for
the Microsoft Sound Card, allows the use of IRQ 10 or 2, fixes DMA3
problems for the Sound Blaster and Thunderboard drivers, and
corrects a rare color problem on some faster machines.

Quest for Glory: Shadows of Darkness (QG4PAT.ZIP) - Eliminates
memory allocation errors and various lockups that may have been
encountered during game play. Please note: Previously saved games
will not work with the patched version! (QG4NOT.ZIP) - Fixes the
problem of the player not receiving the fake note from Katrina.
(QG4IMP.ZIP) - An Import Character Fix allows the game to accept
character files which may have been corrupted when saved by QFG I
and II. If any stats are missing, they can be manually replaced.

Rally v 1.1 (RALLY1.ZIP) - Corrects joystick calibration problem.

Ravenloft v 1.1 (RLFTCD.ZIP) - Fixes random-crash bugs.

Real Weather Pilot (RWPUPD.EXE) - Updates users of Compuserve, as
well as fix aircraft ID and installation.

Rebel Assault v 1.7 (REB17.ZIP) - Corrects random lockups and
"unexpected interrupt" messages. It also enables the game to work
better with systems that have 16 MB RAM or more, adds brightness
controls, a boot-disk creator, and improved joystick control.

The 7th Guest (FIXT7G.EXE) - A new set of files containing
Trilobyte's definitive support document, the latest T7G executable
file (V.EXE version 1.31), two utility programs, and some batch
files to simplify running the game.

Street Fighter II (SF2SOU.ZIP) - Allows different DMA/IRQ sound
card settings for Sound Blaster compatibles. (SF2JOY.ZIP) - Allows
the use of digital joysticks, like the Gravis Gamepad.

Subwar 2050 v 2.02 (SW202.ZIP) - Patches cursor drift, as well as
the time and date problems.

Terminator: Rampage (RAMFIX.ZIP) - A Pentium fix, for you early
adopters.

TFX CD-ROM (TFXCD1.ZIP) - Fixes the "unexpected interrupt" error
message due to hardware conflicts, and most other unexplained
crashes. This patch is necessary to load patch v 2.0. (TFXCD2.ZIP)
- Updates CD-ROM version to v 2.0. (TFXCD3.ZIP) - Updates CD-ROm
version 2.0 to 2.01 and fixes various sound problems.

Tigers on the Prowl (TOPV11.ZIP) - Fixes several bugs, including
the mortar problems.

Tony Larussa Baseball II (T2V13.ZIP) - Fixes install, injury and
pitcher problems for v 1.3. (T2V13C.ZIP) - Fixes same, but for CD-
ROM version.

Ultima VIII: Pagan (U8ADLI.EXE) - A patch to fix errors found in
the Adlib sound card.

War in Russia v 1.1 (WIR11.ZIP) - This one does it all: 1) Computer
no longer depletes formations in human controlled HQ's; 2) Soviet
infantry & Shock units fixed to plot only two moves; 3) A remove
HQ function has been added (Shift R); 4) Number of Operational
points an HQ can gain has been reduced 25%; 5) Wear and tear on
aircraft have been increased by 10%; 6) Maximum readiness gained
in hex reduced to 5 times during special supply. Not an official
SSI patch!

Warlords II v 1.11 (UPDATE.ZIP) - Allows users without the Scenario
Builder to use scenarios from fellow Warlords fanatics or via
networks.

When Two Worlds War (WHENV1.EXE) - Fixes all knows crash bugs and
modem play problems.

Wizardry IV: Bane of the Cosmic Forge (WROOT.ZIP) - Fixes the
"Divide Overflow" message upon starting the game.
