- 1) Notes / Story
-
- Drake stands before the entrance to Ardon's legendary Catacombs. For
- generations these halls have been locked in an effort to contain
- their vile inhabitants: The Legion of the Fallen. The undead hordes
- of the Legion recently burst forth from the Catacombs and overtook the
- Stronghold, Ardon's central military outpost. Whoever controls the
- Stronghold controls the only road between Western and Eastern Ardon.
-
- Supply and trade routes between the Human and Dwarven communities
- have been severed, and the Legion are becoming a very real threat to
- the surrounding communities. The Crusaders of Ardon have done what
- they could to protect the people of Cador Sul and the Citadel, but the
- Legion are a formidable presence now that they've occupied the
- Stronghold.
- The Stronghold is the key.
-
- Enter Drake, a mercenary who's driven by his contempt for the
- Legion. Fate draws Drake to Celestia, the ruler of the Citadel and
- head of the Crusaders. She enlists Drake's help in the effort to
- regain control of the Stronghold: The Horn of Shattering, the one
- artifact
- that can bring down the Stronghold's gates, needs to be retrieved
- from the
- Dwarves of Corantha. The only way to Corantha, unfortunately,
- is through the Catacombs...
-
- Drake unsheathes his sword and prepares for the greatest challenge
- of his life.

- A note about jumping up to climb on objects:
-
- If you are having difficulty jumping up on objects to climb them,
- one of two things may be occurring.
-
- First, the object you are attempting to climb on, may not be a
- climbable object. These are generally identifiable by slanted
- architecture at the top of the object.
-
- Second, you may need to depress the spacebar while in the air and
- before pressing the forward key. This ensures that the game
- registers Drake's
- attempt to climb.

- 6) Video Card And Other Hardware Drivers / DirectX
-
- Crusaders of Might and Magic runs best on a 4MB video card with
- Direct3D support or better. If you do not have a video card with
- Direct3D support, or if you want to change the configuration,
- you can run "CMMConfig.exe". From the Start menu, CMMConfig.exe can
- be run by selecting: Programs\3DO\Crusaders of Might and
- Magic\Configure Graphics
-
- In CMMConfig, select "Software Renderer" to run the game
- without Direct3D, or a different display device if you want
- to select a different video card.
-
-
- Known Issues with Video Cards:
-
- Some cards do not support table fog, and won't display fog in
- Crusaders of Might and Magic.
-
- Some cards do not support colored light mapping, and won't display
- architecture shadows in Crusaders of Might and Magic.
-
- nVidia Riva 128
- We do not recommend that you run the game in 1024x768 or
- higher resolution since you may experience texture drop-out
- in game architecture.
-
- 3Dfx Voodoo Banshee
- At 1600x1200 resolution, you may experience graphic glitches in the
- user interface. At ship, with the latest Creative Labs drivers for
- this card, architectural shadows do not work. The game will run, but
- in full bright mode.
-
- Matrox Mystique 1164-sg-a, Matrox Millennium II 2164w, and Rendition
- VΘritΘ v1000
- At time of ship, these cards did not correctly display menu
- text, or in game textures. You may want to run the game in
- software mode.
-
- I740
- At ship, architectural shadows do not work. The game will run, but in
- full bright mode.
-
-
- Known Issues with Aureal A3D Sound Cards:
-
- Don't be alarmed if the game is minimized by the Aureal A3D driver.
- After their logo has played, simply activate the game by clicking
- on it in the taskbar.
-
- ...........................................
-
- 7) Troubleshooting
-
- In the Graphics Options menu, be careful about choosing screen
- resolutions higher than 640 by 480. The game relies on your video
- card's Direct3D drivers to correctly report their memory capacity.
- Unfortunately, many drivers do not do this. If the game
- either crashes or does not display any textures, please try
- a lower screen resolution.
-
- If you continue to experience graphics problems while in the game,
- you can alleviate these problems by disabling graphics features
- in the options/graphics menu, lowering the screen resolution as stated
- above, and/or eliminate images from your desktop before entering the
- game. (To eliminate desktop images, from your Start Menu, select
- Settings/Control Panel/Display/Background and 'None' for your
- background image.)
-
- Torch lighting effects in the game are a CPU hit and not a video card
- hit. Disabling the High-Quality Animated Texture feature may result
- in a slightly higher frame rate.
-
- Likewise, if the game's performance seems sluggish, try setting the
- "Shadow Resolution" feature to "Low" or "None".
-
- Special note to Riva TNT and Riva TNT2 owners:
- The nVidia 3.53 reference drivers have been problematic
- with our game at resolutions higher than 1024x768.
- If you experience problems, please try lower screen resolutions, or
- use
- the older 2.08 reference drivers, or wait for an
- update from nVidia.
-
- Special Note to Creative Labs Sound Blaster PCI128 users.
- The default volume level for the music may be too loud. If it
- is too loud, reduce the music volume in the audio options menu.
-
-
- ...........................................
-
- 8) Un-install
-
- Uninstall the game by selecting the "Start Menu", "Programs", "3DO",
- "Crusaders Of Might and Magic Demo", and then "Uninstall Crusaders of
- Might and Magic Demo". Follow the onscreen instructions.
