Thanx for downloading one of the House of Style skinpacks for the game Unreal!
Included are the .int files which go into your Unreal/System folder, and the .utx
files for your Unreal/Textures folder.
This is the Humor Skinpack! The skins inside depict those you just can't take
seriously. Contains skins for the m1 and m3 models. These
skinpacks were designed as an alternative to the Big Kahuna skinpack;
you can now download smaller amounts of skins more suited to your tastes.
These packages were designed to show a variety of artists and styles,
and do not reflect the entirety of the House of Style archive-
visit for the latest skins and updates! There may be slight overlap
in a few of the packs.
Organizer of skinpack: Damon Psarris, aka NarkyBark (psarris@cesium.clock.org)
Distributed by the House of Style (http://www.planetunreal.com/houseofstyle)
All skins are the property of their respective authors. Known authors listed below.
For more info, see the House of Style. By submitting skins, authors agree to let
their work be used by the public. For authors of individual skins, please see the
archive at the House of Style. These skins are not to be used for commercial profit,
they are soley for the enjoyment of the Unreal community.
Creation Date: These packs were created on and around mid-December, 1998. The current
Unreal patch is 220. The following instructions are for said patch, as skin
installation became slightly different.
INSTALLATION
Installation is fairly easy- you should have sets of .utx and .int files.
Place the .utx files in your Unreal/Textures folder, and the .int files in your
Unreal/System folder. Do not rename the files!
That should be all you have to do! With the 220 patch, you should be able to
scroll through all of the skins.
If you are playing Botmatches, you're ready to go!
If you are playing on the net, your server must also have the skin package loaded-
if they do not, you'll end up in the default skin for the model. (This may change,
but this info is current to version 220.)
If, for some reason you cannot scroll through your skins properly, you may still
choose them by entering the command directly, as so:
Start Unreal and bring down the console by
pressing everyone's favorite key, the tilde.
Let's say you want to connect to server at 192.168.1.1, and you wanted to be
skinned as Demonica, the line you type in would be as follows:
open
192.168.1.1?class=unreali.femaleone?skin=Female1HOSvil.demonica
Notice that in the ?class option, the model number is spelled out, but in the
?skin option, the numeral is used. Female1HOSvil is the name of the .utx file,
and demonica is the name of the skin. To be certain that you are in the correct
skin, next issue the command:
behindview 1
to return to normal viewing, use behindview 0.
If you want to open a new map or a DMmap on your machine and play some bots
as Scorpion, you would use this line:
open
DMtundra.unr?class=unreali.femaleone?skin=Female1HOSvil.demonica
To switch to Catsuit, just use the same line. This time, however, since you are
already in the femaleone class/model, you won't need to set that option:
open DMtundra.unr?skin=Female1HOSvil.catsuit
***NOTE: Remember, if the server does not support the package you're trying to
use, you will not see your skin. You will wear the default skin.
SERVERS
Servers must properly install the files, AND add the packages. To
do this, you may either edit the Unreal.ini file, adding the appropriate packages
into the next available package position, or add the package through the game.
To do the latter method, begin Unreal and go to the Advanced Options in the
menu. Once the Advanced Options box has opened, click on "Advanced," then
"Game Engine Settings" then "Server Packages." Now go to the next available
box and add the packages of your choice.
That's it! Now everyone who plays on your server will be able to see the skins,
and those who don't have them will downloaded the skins automatically! Woohoo!
