  9. Microsoft Windows 98 documentation for corporate install
  10. scenarios for Service Pack 1.

  20. I.  Pre-Installation Information
  21. --------------------------------
  22. Please refer to the readme.txt for general information about Service Pack 1
  23. prior to installing.  This text file is located on the root of the CD media.
  24. Information about the individual pieces comprising Service Pack 1 can be
  25. found in the component directories.

  27. Service Pack 1 is designed to be used as a supplement to the Windows 98 gold
  28. product.  This update is not intended to be run on Windows 95, or Windows 98 Second
  29. Edition.

  31. Determination whether Service Pack 1 is installed can be performed by the
  32. following:
  33. A.  From the Start menu, Run command, envoke MSInfo by typing msinfo32.exe
  34. B.  Using the Microsoft System Information utility, expand "Software Enviromnet"
  35.     from the System Information list.
  36. C.  Select "Software Updates" to show information about updates and components
  37.             installed to your system.

  40. II.  Installing Service Pack 1 in the corporate environment

  43. Two common options for installing the CSP in a corporate environment
  44. are installing from a shared CD or installing from a shared flat
  45. directory.  Discussed below are considerations for both of these
  46. options.

  48. A.  Installing the CSP from a shared CD
  49.     
  50.     Setup of Service Pack 1 is envoked by running setup.exe from the 
  51.     root of the CD.  Please note that autorun.exe is only when 
  52.     installing locally from CD media.

  54. B.  Installing the CSP from a shared flat directory
  55.  
  56.     If the contents are copied to a shared flat directory, the directory
  57.     structure should be preserved.

  59.     Setup of Service Pack 1 is envoked by running setup.exe from the
