  3. This is a pre-alpha version of the new MySQLGUI client, version 1.1.
  4.  
  5. It requires lots of testing and testing !!
  6.  
  7. I had not tested it enough, I had sufficient problems with some fltk
  8. widgets and with the heavy fatigue problem that I started experiencing 
  9. on Saturday and especially on Sunday.
  10.  
  11. In order to build this version, you need mysql++ and a small change to 
  12. connection1.hh, which I am sending with other source !!
  13.  
  14. Please everybody that can make it and use it, please make it and test
  15. it. And this include my friend Allan, too !!!

  17. All bugs, advices, ideas, please forward directly to me !

  19. What is missing in this version, and what I will do while you are
  20. testing.

  22. Do notice automatic updating of status and processes, with manual
  23. override. And there is a menu on the right button in processes !!!

  25. Titles of each column can be used for sorting.

  27. Please note that items 1.2 and 3. will be done by my beloved wife,
  28. Natalija, but as she has trouble getting to PC, and we have only one,
  29. there are some heavy constraings.

  31. TODO for this version:

  33. 1. Administrative panel. AS there are plenty of functions in
  34. Administrative Module, I will put them all in this panel as icons, so
  35. that they will be easily and fastly available. Next this panel will
  36. have an info similar to info of main window, if this panel is
  37. open, then all messages go to this info and not to main info !! Please 
  38. note that there is a new update_timeout in options, which is used only 
  39. in Administration. This panel will have a few very important fields
  40. from status, which will update at given frequency. Also, it would be
  41. very nice to have last line(s) from host.log (Monty ??). When I do
  42. login support I sometimes need to browse these !!

  44. 2. Animated icons on all dialogs using automated update
  45.  
  46. 3. New flowership backgrounds on some windows.

  48. 4. Animated ping, not just textual.

  50. 5. Tonu will send me new menu for middle button, and I am going to
  51. make ti hierarchical !!!!

  53. 6. Monty has to send me, or just direct me to Changelog, if that
  54. suffices, exact versions of MySQL for which each of administrative
  55. commands were introduced. That would enable me to deactivate commands
  56. depending on server version 100 % exactly and not approximately as I
  57. do know !

  59. 7. Columns for Grant / Revoke. That would need a separate screen, but
  60. I still have no ideas. Do you ??

  66. I want to make screenshots, and I think we should put them in
  67. www.mysql.com/download_clients.html, together with some text that I am 
  68. going to write, so that people will start getting saliva. Whom should I
  69. send screenshots and text. Who is going to put it on that WWW page ??

  71. I also think, that Windoze version of this version, when fully tested
  72. and finished should be given away to licencee's and important clients, 
  73. but sold to anybody else for some small sum , e.g. 50 US $. Opinions ??

  77. it is called in Scandinavia, but give it a try !!
