  4. CAUTION:
  5. Norton Utilities reports that a file 32.dll is 
  6. missing. This is nonsense. Exit Norton Utilities 
  7. and you will see that Backer runs without a hitch.
  8.  
  9. You will find Backer extremely helpful with all 
  10. tasks related to files and directories on your 
  11. computer(s). Any computer that can run Windows 
  12. 95/98 or Windows NT 4.0 can run Backer.
  13.  
  14. All users should read the Introduction in the 
  15. Online Help.
  16. If you have already worked with previous versions 
  17. of Backer then switching will cause no problems.
  18. If you are a new user please work through the 
  19. examples in the Online Help and use only the 
  20. "Express Setup" in the first time.

  22. Installation
  23. ------------
  24. For installation run SETUP.EXE.
  25. HINT: If existing, deinstall an earlier version of 
  26. Backer 4 before installing this version, or choose 
  27. a different directory for the new installation. The 
  28. setup program will not overwrite existing files.

  40. Update from 4.0
  41. ---------------
  42. The update from 4.0 to 4.1 is free for licensed 
  43. users. The license data are the same. When 
  44. starting, Backer 4.1 attempts to copy your existing 
  45. data. If that fails please do the following:
  46. 1. The license data for version 4.1 are expected in 
  47. the file "Backer41.ini".
  48. 2. The license data for version 4.0 are in the file 
  49. "Backer40.ini" in the directory of Backer 4.0. Copy 
  50. this file to the directory of Backer 4.1.
  51. 3. Rename the new copy of "Backer40.ini" to 
  52. "Backer41.ini".
  53. 4. Open Backer41.ini with Notepad and replace all 
  54. occurrences of "Workfile" with "Profile".
  55. 5. Start Backer 4.1.
