  10. ArchivePro 2000 is a powerful archiving utility giving powerful
  11. effective control over the archiving and recall of any sort of data
  12. and is an ideal accompaniment to removable writable media such as
  13. ZIP drive, CDRs, JAZ drives etc. It can run standalone on a single 
  14. PC or at the heart of a complete office or organisation wide data
  15. management strategy across a LAN, WAN or even the Internet.

  17. ArchivePro allows you to take files or groups of files and store 
  18. them (either deleting or retaining the originals) on an "archive 
  19. device", probably a Zip Disk or a CD Writer or reserved area of a 
  20. Hard Drive or something similar. It will compress the files and keep 
  21. track of them, and you can search for them and recall them at any 
  22. time. The archive device doesn't have to be on your PC, although it 
  23. can be. It can be a device on another PC on your local area network, 
  24. or even on a system on the other side of the world connected via a 
  25. wide-area network or even the Internet. Multiple PCs (the "clients") 
  26. can all use the same archive device, which is connected to a single 
  27. PC ("the server"). Or a PC ("the client") can use multiple different 
  28. PCs ("servers") for different purposes, archiving some data to one 
  29. place, other data elsewhere.

  31. As well as archiving files you can also archive "Disk Images". You can 
  32. take a floppy disk, even a bootable one, and archive it on an archive 
  33. server. Then at any time, from any client (security permissions that 
  34. you set allowing), you can recreate the disk. Great for DOS boot disks, 
  35. driver disks etc.

  37. There are extensions to the Windows Explorer context menu to make 
  38. archiving files an extremely simple process, simply select the file or 
  39. group of files/directories you want, right-click and select the new 
  40. Archive command.

  42. Regular archive requirements can be met by the definition of ArchivePro 
  43. "Jobs" - shortcuts that start the Archive Process with a predetermined 
  44. specification of the files to be archived. These shortcuts can be put 
  45. on the Windows desktop for instant access, and can be scheduled by any 
  46. appropriate scheduling package (System Agent for example).
