  12. These instructions describe how to install the 3Com NDIS driver 
  13. for the DEC Pathworks network operating system.  These 
  14. instructions assume the DEC Pathworks for DOS/Windows 
  15. software has been installed on the hard drive from the
  16. installation diskettes or CD ROM. Refer to the DEC manual for 
  17. installation instructions if the software has not been installed.
  18. Refer to the DEC manual for templates and options.  
  19.

  21. Note:  Please read the WFW.TXT file on the EtherDisk if 
  22.        installing Pathworks with WFW  v3.11. 
  23.  
  24.        Please run AutoLink on the EtherDisk if installing
  25.        Pathworks with Retail NetWare or Netware with ODI 
  26.        drivers. 
  27.  
  28. 1.  Go to the drive where Pathworks software is installed. 
  29.  
  30. 2.  Change directory to PCAPP.
  31.  
  32. 3.  Execute PWSETUP.
  33.  
  34. 4.  Enter the directory where you want the software installed. 
  35.           The default is C:\PW. 
  36.  
  37. 5.  Choose CUSTOMIZE under the Select A Configuration Option 
  38.     menu.
  39.  
  40. 6.  Choose a template in the Select a Workstation Template 
  41.     menu.
  42.  
  43. 7.  Under the Customize: Modify Workstation Configuration menu,
  44.     put an X mark besides the Network Adapter Information 
  45.     line.
  46.  
  47. 8.  Additional menus will appear, choose the appropriate 
  48.     options for your network environment. Refer to the DEC 
  49.     manual if there are questions regarding these menus.
  50.  
  51. 9.  Choose <Other Network Adapter> under the 
  52.     Customize: Network Adapter Information menu.
  53.  
  54. 10. If installing options other than Retail NetWare or Netware
  55.     with ODI drivers: 
  56.  
  57.     Type a:\mslanman.dos\drivers\ethernet\elpc3\elpc3.dos on 
  58.     the Driver File: line.
  59.  
  60.     Type a:\mslanman.dos\drivers\ethernet\elpc3\protocol.ini on
  61.     the PROTOCOL.INI Stub: line.
  62.  
  63. 11. Verify that (l) Ethernet is marked and click on OK.
  64.  
  65. 12. Click on OK under the  Customize: Network Adapter 
  66.     Information menu.
  67.  
  68. 13. Additional menus will appear, follow the DEC instructions 
  69.     to complete the installation.

  71. 14. Reboot the system.

  77. DEC PATHWORKS for DOS/Windows v4.1

  81. To install DEC PATHWORKS version 4.1 on a DOS NDIS 
  82. workstation, DOS must be installed on the target workstation C:
  83. drive, or you must have a bootable DOS floppy.  Follow these 
  84. steps:
  85.  
  86. 1. Insert the PATHWORKS DOS Client Setup diskette version 4.1 
  87.    in your floppy drive.
  88.  
  89. 2. Change to that drive and execute the NETSETUP.EXE program.
  90.  
  91. 3. Follow the screens to select a Transport Protocol.
  92.  
  93. 4. Insert the appropriate diskettes for the selection 
  94.    you made in step 3.
  95.  
  96. 5. Select your network adapter by typing ETHERNET.
  97.  
  98. 6. Select the option (OTHER NDIS) adapters.
  99.  
  100. 7. When prompted for the DRIVE:\PATH\FILENAME for the NDIS 
  101.    driver, type:
  102.  
  103.         A:\MSLANMAN.DOS\DRIVERS\ETHERNET\ELPC3\ELPC3.DOS
  104.  
  105. 8. When prompted for the full DRIVE:\PATH of the PROTOCOL.INI
  106.    fragment, type:
  107.  
  108.         A:\ MSLANMAN.DOS\DRIVERS\ETHERNET\ELPC3\PROTOCOL.INI
  109.  
  110. 9. Follow the rest of the installation screens and the 
  111.    procedure for writing the KEY DISK.
  112.  
  113.    The NETSETUP program will build the PROTOCOL.INI file for 
  114.    you and modify your startup files to use the adapter you
  115.    have selected.

  119.  NOTE:  You must add the /N parameter to the line in the 
  120.         STARTNET.BAT file. That starts the network scheduler.
