  3. A few hints obtained via Internet Mail.
  4.  
  5. 1) LC's, TH's etc. are completely useless unless
  6.     (a) The map is very convoluted with few clear fields of fire, or
  7.     (b) There is a possibility of ambushes
  8.    I would not recommend taking these into most other missions.
  9.  
  10. 2) AC's are useless unless
  11.     (a) You are going to have to shoot away some bulkheads, or
  12.     (b) You know there are only going to be a limited number of
  13.         Genestealers, or
  14.     (c) You know there are going to be ammo reloads available in the
  15.         mission
  16.  
  17. For most missions you will want to equip your Terminators with Storm
  18. Bolters and Power Gloves. Take one or two flamers if you know you 
  19. will have to flame an area: put the flamer in the fourth position in 
  20. the squad.

  22. Tactics:
  23.  
  24. - Use the Pause feature intelligently. You need to get familiar with 
  25.   the controls so that you can issue orders to your squad in the 
  26.   shortest possible time. If you run out of freeze time and have to 
  27.   control a squad in realtime you are dead.
  28.  
  29. - Always assume that a Terminator in hand-to-hand combat is going to 
  30.   die. Avoid this: take on all Genestealers at a distance. The 
  31.   further, the better!
  32.  
  33. - Always have your Terminators covering each other. If you are 
  34.   marching up a corridor then have at least a one square gap between 
  35.   the point Terminator and the rest. In fact, the best marching order 
  36.   is:

  42.   That way, if the point gets eaten the second has enough clear space
  43.   that he won't be forced into hand-to-hand.

  45. - You are a better shot than the computer is. If one of your 
  46.   Terminators is in a firefight then control him manually: you have a 
  47.   far smaller chance of weapon jams. NOTE: this is not true for AC's. 
  48.   Never fire an AC manually, since you will tend to waste far too 
  49.   much ammo.

  51. - Cover all possible Genestealer entry points, if possible. Set up
  52.   overlapping fields of fire and have backup for the Terminators in
  53.   dangerous positions if possible. Once you have a Genestealer or two
  54.   in the middle of your formation you're going to start losing 
  55.   Terminators fast...

  58. Make sure you can handle the Basic and Advanced training missions 
  59. before moving on to the tougher ones: you'll need a lot of skill for 
  60. some of the Deathwing missions.
