  1. ActiveX Redistributable Installation Kit: AXDist.exe and WINTDist.exe

  4. This section refers to the files AXDist.exe and WINTDist.exe.  
  5.  
  6. WINTDist.exe will install WinInet and dependencies, and make required registry settings.

  10. AXDist.exe will install URLMon.dll and dependencies, and make require registry settings.
  11. * WinInet.dll
  12. * InLoader.dll
  13. * URLMon.dll
  14. * HLink.dll

  16. * OLEAut32.dll
  17. * STDOLE2.tlb
  18.  
  19. For the purposes of this section, "The DLLs" shall mean all of the DLLs and the TLB file listed above.

  21. AXDist.exe and WINTDist.exe are self extracting installation files which are intended to be the only 
  22. vehicle through which ISVs can redistribute and install The DLLs with their ActiveX code.  Their 
  23. purpose is to allow ISVs to ship code without being dependent on the presence of 
  24. Internet Explorer 3.0 on the target machine.

  26. These files are in beta form.  This agreement supersedes all other agreements with respect to 
  27. AXDist.exe, WINTDist.exe, and The DLLs.  In addition to the rights granted in Section 1 of 
  28. the Development License Agreement ("Agreement"), you have the right to redistribute AXDist.exe 
  29. and WINTdist.exe subject to the following non-exclusive stipulations.

  31. You may not modify AXDist.exe or WINTDist.exe, or The DLLs it installs.
  32.  
  33. You may not redistribute The DLLs under any other circumstances except by using AXDist.exe 
  34. or WINTDist.exe.
  35.  
  36. These files are intended for development purposes only.  Although you may redistribute this release of 
  37. AXDist.exe with your products; you must mark that product as "beta", and you must upgrade your customers 
  38. within 90 days of their final release of AXDist.exe.  
  39.  
  40. You may redistribute WINTDist.exe with your product.  You are not required to mark that product
  41. as "beta" with this release of WINTDist.exe, but you are still obligated to refresh your customer
  42. base with the final bits of WINTDist.exe with your next upgrade. 
  43.  
  44. You may freely distribute these files within your company for development purposes of your 
  45. ActiveX project.
  46.  
  47. The files being installed by AXDist.exe or WINTDist.exe should never be allowed to install over 
  48. existing files that have a later version number.
  49.  
  50. This licensing agreement is subject to change without warning.
  51.  
  52. If AXDist.exe or WINTDist.exe do not meet your distribution needs of The DLLs, you must send 
  53. detailed feedback to the AXDistB1@microsoft.com (that is for "ActiveX SDK Redistributables, Beta 1").
