  16. What is VisiMap Lite?
  17. --------------------
  18. VisiMap Lite is an easy-to-use creativity-enhancement and productivity-boosting
  19. tool (for Windows 3.1x, Windows 95 and Windows NT) for visual organisation,
  20. brainstorming, problem-solving, document outlining, planning, personal
  21. organisation, and many other day-to-day tasks. VisiMap Lite allows you to
  22. quickly and efficiently enter, visualise, restructure, and print, present, and
  23. communicate information using a simple, yet powerful, graphical metaphor that
  24. we call a 'visual map'.

  26. Its key features include:

  28. - Interactive map construction and maintenance, providing you with immediate
  29. feedback.
  30. - An integrated QuickEditor makes it easy for you to attach (and edit) 'notes'
  31. to branches of your maps in a convenient split-screen mode.
  32. - Automatic map layout and drawing, leaving you to concentrate on content and
  33. structure.
  34. - A text outline view also lets you work in a 1-dimensional text outline view,
  35. and switch easily between this and the visual map view.
  36. - Branch icons: place graphical icons on branches of a map to give your maps
  37. added visual impact.
  38. - Versatile viewing and outlining functions allow you to view a map in
  39. different ways and with different levels of detail.
  40. - Style sheets and a colour palette allow you to control and change the use of
  41. colour and fonts. 
  42. - Auto-levelling outline styles: a new outline style scheme allows you to
  43. define branch formats for each level in a map, and have VisiMap Lite apply them
  44. automatically.
  45. - Sophisticated printing facilities, both graphical and textual, give you
  46. comprehensive control on how your maps look on paper.
  47. - Full drag-and-drop reordering: you can fully restructure your map using
  48. drag-and-drop techniques.
  49. - Various flexible productivity and usability enhancers: Speed-entry, colour
  50. palette, subtree editing, auto-colouring, multiple page layouts, global
  51. find/replace, ... and much more!

  53. About the License Agreement
  54. ---------------------------
  55. VisiMap Lite is not free software.  It is distributed as Shareware. This means
  56. you have the opportunity to freely evaluate VisiMap Lite at your leisure for a
  57. period not exceeding fourteen days. If, after that time, you find VisiMap Lite
  58. useful, you are obligated to purchase a license for its continued use. If you
  59. do not find VisiMap Lite useful, or you do not register it within fourteen
  60. days, you must discontinue its use. The full text of the VisiMap Lite license
  61. agreement, together with our Warranty Disclaimer can be found in the
  62. accompanying file LICENCE.TXT.

  64. How to register VisiMap Lite
  65. ----------------------------
  66. A license for the use of VisiMap Lite can be obtained by filling out the
  67. Registration Application Form found in the file ORDERFRM.WRI. Registration
  68. entitles you to a diskette of the latest version of VisiMap Lite together
  69. with your personal registration details (which will eliminate the
  70. registration reminder screens and remove the time limitation), technical
  71. support via telefax or EMail, and free access (via our web site) to any
  72. later 2.xx versions that may be published from time to time.

  74. Please refer to the ORDERFRM.WRI file (copied to your system during
  75. installation of VisiMap Lite) for details on registration costs and
  76. procedures.

  78. Notes for Registered Users of InfoMap Lite
  79. ------------------------------------------
  80. If you are a registered user of CoCo Systems' InfoMap Lite, you can upgrade
  81. to VisiMap Lite 2.0 for a discounted registration fee. VisiMap Lite is 
  82. backwards-compatible with InfoMap Lite, which means that it will work with
  83. all the maps and style sheets you created with InfoMap Lite.

  85. To upgrade to VisiMap Lite, please contact the same supplier from whom you
  86. registered your copy of InfoMap Lite for pricing and ordering details. If
  87. you registered your copy of InfoMap directly with CoCo Systems, you can order
  88. your upgrade on-line on the internet at http://www.coco.co.uk.

  90. Installation of VisiMap Lite
  91. ----------------------------
  92. If you have not already done so, you can easily install VisiMap Lite by
  93. following the instructions here:
  94.  
  95. (1) If you have the VisiMap distribution CD:
  96. Insert the distribution CD into your CD-ROM drive. If you have Windows 95 (or
  97. later) or Windows NT 4.0 (or later) the setup program should start
  98. automatically. If it does not, or you have Windows 3.x, run the program
  99. SETUP.EXE found in the root directory of your CD. Once the Setup program has
  100. loaded choose VisiMap Lite for installation, follow the on-screen
  101. instructions.

  103. (2) If you have the VisiMap Lite floppy-disk distribution set:
  104. Insert disk 1 of the distribution set into a floppy disk drive and run the
  105. program SETUP.EXE. Once the Setup program has loaded, follow the on-screen
  106. instructions.

  108. (3) If you have the VisiMap Lite self-installing distribution file:
  109. Simply run the distribution file and follow the on-screen instructions.
  110.  
  111. If you are running the Windows 3.1/Windows NT 3.51 Program Manager or the
  112. Windows 95/Windows NT 4.0 explorer, Setup will give you the option of creating
  113. a program manager group or program folder. You will then be able to start
  114. VisiMap Lite by double-clicking the VisiMap Lite icon. If you choose not to
  115. create a program manager group or program folder, run VisiMap Lite by opening
  116. the Windows 3.1/NT 3.51 File Manager or Windows 95/NT 4.0 Explorer) and then
  117. double-click on VMLITE.EXE in the VisiMap Lite directory.

  119. Quick Start
  120. -----------
  121. Once you are running VisiMap Lite, please refer to VisiMap Lite's
  122. comprehensive on-line help for full details on its use. To access the VisiMap
  123. Lite on-line help simply press the F1 key.  You might like to print the
  124. help topics found under 'Introduction' and 'How to ...'.

  126. When VisiMap Lite first loads, you will see one or more example map which give
  127. a brief overview of VisiMap Lite's main features.

  129. Uninstalling VisiMap Lite
  130. -------------------------
  131. If, having installed VisiMap Lite, you wish for any reason to remove it from
  132. your hard disk you can use the UnInstall icon in the VisiMap Lite program
  133. group (if you elect not to create a program group of folder, SETUP will
  134. provide alternative instructions at the end of the installation process).

  137. -----------------------------------
