  5. WHAT IS Easy Professional Tools-Ezp2?
  6.  
  7. Easy Professional Tools-Ezp2 is a ShareWare product of MaxWare.
  8. Ezp2 is a set of highly integratable utilities, should we say PROGRAM 
  9. OBJECTS, that supports multi-tasking operation, file and text data 
  10. management for OS/2 Workstation, Client/Server application and 
  11. Networking application environment.

  13. Ezp2, a fully functional 32 bits tool set, is a unique set of utilities 
  14. containing 30 powerful program objects.

  17. What can Ezp2 do for you?
  18.  
  19. Most of the Ezp2 commands help you work with files and tasks. 
  20. They are not only work individually; these "PROGRAM OBJECTS" include 
  21. integration tools and features to integrate multiple programs to a 
  22. powerful function. You can also easily integrate this Ezp2 with REXX, 
  23. GUI REXX or Basic command processor to become a new set of function. A 
  24. few new functions are:

  26. o Most Ezp2 command supports the file name specification or data from  
  27. file, pipe,  or Named pipe so they can become a server,
  28.  
  29. o NMPIPE, WAIT programs are integration tools for Client/Server and 
  30. networking application,

  32. o NMPIPE also can enable the communications between normal OS/2 and DOS 
  33. programs,
  34.  
  35. o CP is a smart copy, backup and compress program
  36.   "CP -U" and TAR let you exchange files with UNIX,
  37.   "CP --" and  WHERE are tools for daily backup,

  39. o "GREP -rb" and WHERE are best tools to find the file or things,
  40.  
  41. o WAIT, NICE, and SLEEP provide synchronization for multi-tasks or 
  42. networking program,

  44. o Event simple "TOUCH" program have new feature to select the day or 
  45. time to change the file's date,

  47. o And you can combine these tools with other OS/2 or DOS programs to 
  48. generate new functions,

  50. o We use the UNIX basic command interfaces, because so many users are 
  51. familiar with their basic functions, but many features included in  
  52. here have never been seeing on the UNIX systems.

  63. Ezp2 contains 29 powerful 32 bits OS/2 programs. Only VI.EXE is a 
  64. common program between Ezp2 and Ez2 tools set. Ez2 is a 16 bits 
  65. application set with most functions of Ezp2 that support OS/2 and DOS.

  82. If you have purchased the OS/2 Ezp2 package, your software support both 
  83. FAT or HPFS file system on OS/2, OS/2 LAN or Netware network files.

  86. Minimum Ezp2 requirements are 512K of user RAM, not including RAM used 
  87. by the operating system, and 1.4MB of disk spaces.

  94. The installation disk in your Ezp2 package includes a file named 
  95. README.TXT - this file. You should read this file for the latest 
  96. information about this package.

  110. Disk Formats

  112.   Ezp2 is available on 3 1/2 inches double density floppy 
  113.   disks ( Maxware part number 052-002 )

  115.   To order the 5 1/4 inch option:

  117.   Just specify the part number when you first order Ezp2, 
  118.   or include $10 with your receipt of purchase to order
  119.   the optional 5 1/4 inch media ( MaxWare part number 052-003)

  123. INSTALLATION

  126. To install from floppy diskette, please find the diskette labeled 
  127. 'INSTALL' and put it into floppy disk drive A, then follow the 
  128. instructions in the next section.

  130. To install from hard disk, after you unzip the ezp2_300.zip file:
  131.  
  132. Type "SETUP" in the directory that contains the Ezp2 files. 
  133. You will be asked to give the SETUP program a complete drive and full 
  134. directory pathname, it will make a directory on your hard disk and 
  135. place the Ezp2 files in this new directory.

  140. LEARNING Ezp2 COMMANDS:

  142. On-Line Help and Examples
  143.  
  144. Ezp2 has an on-line help facility. You do not have to look in the 
  145. manual to find out the features of commands. If you need to find out 
  146. about the 'ls' command, type:
  147.  
  148.    ls -?
  149.  
  150.   "cmd  -?"    to get Help
  151.  
  152. The "-?" by itself after the command name tell Ezp2 you want to display 
  153. the features of the command. Every utility of Ezp2 supports on-line 
  154. help in this manner.

  156. Stopping a Running Utility
  157.  
  158. To break into a running Ezp2 utility, you can press CTRL-C or CTRL-
  159. BREAK.

  165.   cal      : display the selected month or whole year's calendar 
  166.   cat      : concatenate or display the file content
  167.   cmp       : compare two files
  168.   cp       : smart copy, backup or compress files 
  169.        : can copy multiple subdirectory tree and volume
  170.        : intelligently update the files
  171.            : also support UNIX compatible "COMPRESS" data
  172.   etime    : report the elapse time of program  execution
  173.   grep     : search the text or binary files for a pattern
  174.   head     : display the first few lines of the files
  175.   kill     : kill a running processor
  176.   klog     : execute a command with a logger
  177.   ls        : list the directory in selected format
  178.   mv        : move or rename either files or directories 
  179.   nice     : start a command with different priority
  180.   nmpipe   : create a named pipe and redirect the stdin/stdout to it
  181.              for OS/2, DOS, Window and network program
  182.   od        : display the file contents in selected format
  183.   pr        : print file in specified format
  184.   rm        : remove files or directories
  185.   sleep    : sleep for specified time
  186.   strings  : display the string in a file

  188.   tail     : display the last few lines of a file

  190.   tee        : duplicates the program output to both console and file
  191.   touch    : change the file date to selected date

  202. Once you have registered you can get a counter set of 16 bits Ez2 
  203. program, Either through the on-line BBS, by mail. or eMail.

  206. Ez2 are utilities for OS/2 and DOS:

  208. Ez2 are 29 portable programs for the OS/2 and DOS environments. You can 
  209. move files generated in OS/2 to DOS and vice versa. You also can vi(ew) 
  210. files in different sessions at the same time in OS/2 environment to 
  211. take advantage of OS/2 multitasking features.

  213. Ez2 commands also provides on-line help to assist the user,
  214. so you have full command descriptions and examples right in front of 
  215. you when you need them.
