  14. 1. DESCRIPTION- BandIt Super Print Components for Delphi 1 & 2
  15. ===============================================================
  16. BandIt are fully functional print components for Delphi.
  17.  
  18. This copy of  BandIt  displays a UNREGISTERED COPY OF BandIt message on the
  19. screen when preparing a printout and prints a UNREGISTERED COPY OF BandIt
  20. message on all printouts if not registered. If you register, you will receive
  21. an activation code that disables the nag screen and nag message printed at the
  22. bottom of each printout.

  46. 2. DEFINITION OF SHAREWARE

  49. Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software before buying it.
  50. If you try a Shareware program and continue using it, you are expected to
  51. register. Individual programs differ on details -- some request registration
  52. while others require it, some specify a maximum trial period. With registration
  53. , you get anything from the simple right to continue using the software to an
  54. updated program with printed manual.

  56. Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial software, and the
  57. copyright holder retains all rights, with a few specific exceptions as
  58. stated below. Shareware authors are accomplished programmers, just like
  59. commercial authors, and the programs are of comparable quality. (In both
  60. cases, there are good programs and bad ones!) The main difference is in
  61. the method of distribution. The author specifically grants the right to
  62. copy and distribute the software, either to all and sundry or to a specific
  63. group. For example, some authors require written permission before a commercial
  64. disk vendor may copy their Shareware.

  66. Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software. You should find
  67. software that suits your needs and pocketbook, whether it's commercial or
  68. Shareware. The Shareware system makes fitting your needs easier, because you
  69. can try before you buy. And because the overhead is low, prices are low also.
  70. Shareware has the ultimate money-back guarantee -- if you don't use the
  71. product, you don't pay for it.

  74. 3. DISCLAIMER - AGREEMENT

  77. Users of BandIt must accept this disclaimer of warranty: "BandIt is supplied
  78. as is.  The author disclaims all warranties, expressed or implied, including,
  79. without limitation, the warranties of merchantability and of fitness for any
  80. purpose. The author assumes no liability for damages, direct or consequential,
  81. which may result from the use of BandIt." BandIt is a "shareware product"
  82. and is provided at no charge to the user for evaluation.  Feel free to share
  83. it with your friends, but please do not give it away when registered. The
  84. essence of "user-supported" software is to provide personal computer users
  85. with quality software without high prices, and yet to provide incentive for
  86. programmers to continue to develop new products.  If you find this product
  87. useful and find that you are using BandIt and continue to use BandIt after
  88. a reasonable trial period, you must register it with Calitz Bros. through Kagi
  89. software or Compuserve.  This registration fee will license one copy for use
  90. on any one computer at any one time. The registration and the activation code
  91. will be valid for future minor upgrades,  bug fixes and enhancements to
  92. BandIt Version 5.x.   When we have received your payment,  we will e-mail,
  93. fax or post your activation code to you. You must treat this software just
  94. like a book.  An example is that this software may be used by any number of
  95. people and may be freely moved from one computer location to another, so long
  96. as there is no possibility of it being used at one location while it's being
  97. used at another. Just as a book cannot be read by two different persons at
  98. the same time. Programs developed by using the BandIt components may be
  99. distributed without any additional royalties.

  101. Commercial users of BandIt must register and pay for their copies of BandIt
  102. within 30 days of first use or their license is withdrawn.
  103.  
  104. Anyone distributing BandIt for any kind of remuneration must first contact
  105. Calitz Bros. at the address below for authorization. This authorization will
  106. be automatically granted to shareware distributors, and such distributors
  107. may begin offering BandIt immediately (However Calitz Bros. must still be
  108. advised so that the distributor can be kept up-to-date with the latest version
  109. of BandIt.).

  111. BandIt has a nag screen which displays when BandIt is not registered. If not
  112. registered then the not registered message will also print on all reports and
  113. printouts. If registered the message on the reports will be replaced by the
  114. user's own wording or nothing if required.
  115.  
  116. You are encouraged to pass a copy of BandIt along to your friends for
  117. evaluation.  Please encourage them to register their copy if they find
  118. that they can use it.

  121. 4. THE ZIP FILES
  122. ----------------
  123. BandIt consists of the following files:
  124.  
  125. 1. BNDCP_16.ZIP - The 16-bit components for Delphi 1.x
  126. 2. BNDCP_32.ZIP - The 32-bit components for Delphi 2.x
  127. 3. BNDHLP.ZIP   - The .HLP and .KWF files
  128. 4. BNDEXEC.ZIP  - 16-bit Demo executable (alias DBDEMOS must be defined)
  129. 5. BNDSRC.ZIP   - Source code of the demos
  130. 6. REGISTER.ZIP - Register and Activation programs.

  132. The BNDCP_16.ZIP and the BNDCP_32.ZIP files be extracted into
  133. separate directories
  134.  
  135. 5. INSTALLING BandIt COMPONENTS
  136. --------------------------------
  137.  
  138. 5.1. Backup the component library file named COMPLIB.DCL in your \DELPHI\BIN
  139. directory.  This will allow you to restore your component library if you
  140. encounter any problems during the installation process.
  141.  
  142. 5.2. Start DELPHI and select Options | Install Components from the menu.
  143. Click on the Add button when the Install Components dialog is displayed.
  144.  
  145.      To install BandIt,
  146.  
  147.             Click on the Browse button and select the file BandIt.PAS
  148.             in the directory where BandIt  was installed, usually
  149.             C:\Prt\d16 (for Delphi 1.x) or C:\Prt\d32 (for
  150.             Delphi 2.x) development.
  151.  
  152. 5.3. Click on OK to return to the Install Components Dialog Box and click
  153. on OK to accept the changes.  DELPHI will now install the new components.
  154. A new page will be created on the component bar called  BandIt that contains
  155. the new components.

  158. 6. INSTALLING THE KEYWORD HELP (To access from Delphi)
  159. ------------------------------------------------------
  160.  
  161. 6.1.    Execute the file  HELPINST.EXE  in the \DELPHI\HELP directory.
  162.  
  163. 6.2.    Select  File | Open  from the menu.
  164.  
  165. 6.3.    Open the file  DELPHI.HDX  in the  \DELPHI\BIN directory.
  166.  
  167. 6.4.    Select  Keywords |Add  Keyword file from the menu.
  168.  
  169. 6.5.    Select the file  BandIt.KWF  in the  \Prt\d16 directory
  170. (for Delphi 1.x) or in the \Prt\d32 (for Delphi 2.x) development.

  172. 6.6.    Select  File | Save from the menu.

  175. Note:  To access help from the demos - Copy the help file named BandIt.HLP
  176. in the BandIt directory to your windows directory.

  179. 7. REMOVING BandIt COMPONENTS
  180. ------------------------------
  181.  
  182. 7.1.  Start DELPHI and select Options | Install Components from the menu.
  183. Click on the BandIt unit (to remove BandIt) and then on the Remove button.
  184.  
  185. 7.2.  Click on OK to remove the components from the component bar.
  186.  
  187. IF YOU ARE USING DELPHI 1.x FOR 16 BIT DEVELOPMENT:
  188. 7.3.    Remove the directory C:\Prt\d16 or the directory where BandIt was
  189. installed.
  190.  
  191. 7.4.  Remove the icons and group from the Print Manager screen
  192.

  195. IF YOU ARE USING DELPHI 2.x FOR 32 BIT DEVELOPMENT:
  196. 7.3.  Remove the directory C:\Prt\d32 or the directory where BandIt was
  197. installed.

  199. 7.4.  Remove the icons and group from the Print Manager screen
  200.  
  201. 7.5.  Remove the complete directory C:\Prt to remove all trace of BandIt
  202.

  204. 8. GENERAL INFORMATION
  205. ----------------------
