  25.                     INCOMPATABILITY REPORT

  27.   The following is a list of equipment and programs which have been
  28. found to be incompatible with ADinf. It also recommends ways to come
  29. round such problems.

  31. 1.══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════
  32.   ASPI2DOS.SYS DRIVER
  33.  
  34. SYMPTOM       ADinf versions earlier than 9.25 hang up on starting.
  35.  
  36. CAUSE         Due to the bug in Int 13h handler in ASPI2DOS.SYS,
  37.               on machines with one physical disk, in attempting to
  38.               execute Int 13h for the second disk, the driver hangs up
  39.               instead of normal returning with Carry Flag.
  40.  
  41. REMEDY        Use ADinf version 9.25 or higher.

  43. 2.══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════
  44.   SCSI-DISKS WITH LOADABLE DRIVERS
  45.  
  46. SYMPTOM       After scanning the disk,  ADinf hangs up while writing the
  47.               diskinfo tables and reports `10% written'.
  48.  
  49. CAUSE         When the SCSI-hard disk is managed by its loadable
  50.               driver, ADinf cannot access the disk directly via BIOS.
  51.  
  52. REMEDY        In the ADinf menu, specify Int 13h as the ACCESS TYPE for
  53.               all drives (though virus protection is less reliable) or
  54.               disable the SCSI-hard disk driver, if this is possible.

  56. 3.══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════
  57.    ADinf 9.12 AND HIGHER VERSIONS
  58.  
  59. SYMPTON       On certain machines with rare types of BIOS, ADinf may hang
  60.               up, printing "OPENING DRIVE C" in the message box at the
  61.               screen bottom, or display false alarms.
  62.  
  63. CAUSE         Beginning from version 9.12, ADinf uses a special mechanism
  64.               to trap the viruses hiding at the hard disk controller level.
  65.               This mechanism may conflict with certain, particularly, older
  66.               BIOS versions.
  67.  
  68. REMEDY        Run ADinf with the command switch -76.  Please inform us the
  69.               version number of your BIOS (8 bytes at the address F000:FFF5)
  70.               for updating the ADinf internal incompatiblity table to avoid
  71.               conflicts with such a BIOS.

  74.   AMOUSE.COM MOUSE DRIVER
  75.  
  76. SYMPTOM  On  starting  ADinf  in  a  machine installed with the AMOUSE.COM
  77.          mouse  driver,  the  screen  is  blacked   out  or  filled   with
  78.          "garbage".
  79.  
  80. CAUSE    Incompatibility  of pseudographic cursor  support library used in
  81.          ADinf with the AMOUSE.COM mouse driver.
  82.  
  83. REMEDY   Disable the pseudographic mouse  cursor by including  the command
  84.          switch  -NAM  while  running  ADinf  and  use the standard cursor
  85.          instead.

  87. 5.══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════
  88.   CMD640X2.SYS DRIVER
  89.  
  90. SYMPTOM  ADinf hangs up, displaying the message "Opening the disk".
  91.  
  92. CAUSE    The CMD640x2.SYS driver supports 32-bit access to IDE disks under
  93.          MS-DOS.   This  driver  intercepts  and  handles  Interrupt   76h
  94.          initiated  by  the  IDE  controlled  upon the completion of every
  95.          disk operation.  Certain stealth  viruses use  this interrupt for
  96.          hiding their presence in the  machine.  To prevent these  viruses
  97.          from  doing  so,  ADinf  intercepts  and  handles  Interrupt 76h,
  98.          thereby conflicting with this driver.

  100. REMEDY   Run  ADinf with  the  command  option  -76  to prevent ADinf from
  101.          intercepting Interrupt 76h (see also file ADinfFAQ.txt).
