  17. 1.  INTRODUCTION

  19. Welcome to Lexicon. This file details information on the game
  20. and how to get in contact with Nature Boy Software. For more
  21. detailed information on playing the game, see the Lexicon
  22. user's manual.

  24. 2.  SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  25. =======================
  26. Lexicon requires the following:
  27. IBM PC and Compatibles
  28. Pentium processor or better
  29. Mouse
  30. VGA Compatible Display (640x480 resolution with 8-bit (256) color)
  31. 8MB RAM minimum, 16MB recommended
  32. Windows 95 (Windows NT not tested)
  33. Installed "Direct X" drivers
  34. Hard Drive with at least 8 MB free

  36. About Direct X drivers:
  37. This game requires Microsoft DirectX 5.0 or later. Direct X is a
  38. set of drivers (programs) for Windows 95 developed by Microsoft
  39. to improve performance and provide greater compatibility for new
  40. computer games and other software. If you do not already have
  41. Direct X 5.0, you can obtain a copy from Microsoft's web site at:

  45. 3.  FILE INFORMATION
  46. ====================
  47. LEXICON.EXE is the application you will run to play the game. A
  48. shortcut for it has been created in the program group you specified
  49. during installation.
  50.  
  51. During gameplay, Lexicon will create a high-scores file named "HIGH
  52. SCORES", as well as a new folder named "SavedGames" which will
  53. contain any games saved during play. These items will not be removed
  54. from your system if you perform an uninstall, so they should be
  55. removed manually.

  57. A shortcut for uninstalling (removing) Lexicon from your hard drive
  58. is also provided in your program group.
  59.  
  60. A shortcut for the Lexicon User's Manual is provided in your program
  61. group as well. This manual contains all of the information you will
  62. need on how to play Lexicon. This information is also available from
  63. within the game by selecting the HELP button (rock) while in the
  64. main control screen (the pond with the lily-pads).

  66. 4.  REGISTERING
  67. ===============
  68. If you enjoy the shareware version of Lexicon and want to see more,
  69. please register your copy. By registering, you will receive the full
  70. version of Lexicon, featuring...

  72. * Many more tile layout patterns for each game type.
  73. * Tougher computer opponents (Average Joe & Tough Tom).
  74. * A fully editable dictionary.
  75. * Saving and loading of games.
  76. * Play head-to-head against others over the internet, LANs, modem

  78. * High scores are permanently saved to disk.
  79. * Word hints (suggestions) available during gameplay.

  81. This shareware version of Lexicon is a convertible demo. That is, it
  82. can be converted into the registered version simply by entering your
  83. registration code within the program. To register Lexicon and obtain
  84. your registration code, read the file Order.txt.

  89. Updates to Lexicon will be made as deemed necessary by Nature Boy
  90. Software to ensure playability and compatibility to the user
  91. community. These updates will be made available to the public free
