-
- The SCOFORUM on CompuServe hosts active discussion areas where SCO software
- and development are presented. In addition, libraries of technical
- information about SCO products, freely available software, and a mirror of the
- supplemental patches and device drivers from the SCO ftp site are available
- in the SCOFORUM area of CompuServe. To use the SCOFORUM, you will need
- a CompuServe Account and either CompuServe-supplied software, or a
- third-party communications package. For more information on acquiring
- a CompuServe account or to get local access phone number, call
- CompuServe at (800) 524-3388 and ask for Representative #432,
- or call (614) 457-8600. After you Log onto CompuServe Type GO SCOFORUM.
- The menus and help system will guide you.
-
- SCO Related Usenet Newsgroups
-
- There are several SCO related Usenet Newsgroups available if you have
- Usenet news service from your Internet Service Provider. These
- newsgroups contain questions, answers, comments and discussion about
- past, present and future SCO products and services. Check with your
- ISP or News Administrator to be sure you can receive
- the following newsgroups:
-
- comp.unix.sco.announce (moderated)
- comp.unix.sco.misc
- comp.unix.sco.programmer
- comp.unix.unixware.misc
- comp.unix.xenix.sco
-
- It is also helpful to scan old archives of news articles
- using the DejaNews server at http://www.dejanews.com. Similarly, other
- Internet search engines will help you find Usenet or World Wide Web sites
- and documents that help you learn about and use your SCO systems.
-
- Anonymous FTP
-
- Anonymous FTP is the traditional way to download files from SCO's web
- sites. SCO's anonymous ftp facilities include:
-
- - Supplemental patches for specific SCO products
-
- - Device drivers for old and newly released hardware
-
- - Archives of the latest, freely available software ported
- to SCO platforms (Skunkware)
-
- - New and early release system enhancements and tools
- (Technical Library Supplements)
-
- For additional information regarding availability in each of
- the supplementary software distributions, download the README
- file located in the FTP root directory.
-
- To access the FTP site, use the ftp command in your UNIX or other
- system as follows:
-
- ftp ftp.sco.com
-
- Log in as the user anonymous or ftp. Enter your full Internet e-mail
- address as the password
-
- FTP Mail
-
- FTPmail is an automated e-mail service which acts as a gateway between
- electronic mail and FTP, executing FTP commands received by e-mail,
- and sending back the requested files to the user by e-mail. For complete
- usage information, use your email program to send mail to ftpmail@sco.com.
- Leave the subject line blank. Send a one-line message consisting of this
- word:
-
- help
-

- (US) or scolon (UK) machines to download the supplementary distribution
- files located in the usr/spool/uucppublic directory.
-
- When you access the SCO UUCP system, you can reach all the same files that
- are available via ftp. UUCP access phone numbers:

- front-end for ease of use for those who do not have a Web browser or
- Internet access. SCO's Online Support (SOS) system contains similar
- information to that available on SCO's World Wide Web site. Use your
- terminal, or terminal emulator program, modem, and third-party
- communications package. The cu (C) command (for SCO XENIX and SCO UNIX
- systems) will work, but there are a number of free and commercial
- terminal emulation programs that work better. To download supplemental
- patches, your third-party communications package must support XMODEM,
- YMODEM, ZMODEM, or kermit transfer protocols.

- Additional Support Resources
-
- SCO Authorized Support Centers can provide fee-based technical assistance
- on SCO products. See www.sco.com/support. Or you can ask your local
- SCO products and services provider for a recommendation. Asking for a
- recommended service provider in the Usenet newsgroups or the
- Compuserve SCOFORUM is also likely to get good results. Finally, if you
- prefer, call SCO Services Sales at 800-726-8649 for a referral.
-
- Skunkware Support
-
- SCO does not provide technical support for Skunkware components.
- In general, you should refer to the Usenet newsgroups (see above) or
- contact the authors of the individual packages, if they offer
- such help in the README's for those packages. We are interested in your
- comments.
-
- If you have problems with a Skunkware package, which you feel are specific
- to the SCO version, you can visit our website at http://www.sco.com/skunkware
- and check for updated versions or other special information.
