  6. A WINDOW TO WINDOWS 3.x or WINDOWS 95

  9.    Who says system-wide hook is impossible in 32 bit environment.
  10.  
  11.    We have developed technology to install system-wide hooks (which can hook
  12.    into any APIs directly), the technology to create share memory (allocate
  13.    memory to share among any 32bit or 16bit application), and the technology
  14.    to create patch patching into Windows KERNEL or ANY routines. All these
  15.    technologies are used in any of our SPYs products. You may not see it
  16.    visually but it is there ... Check all Windows 3x/95 SPYs out youself.

  18.    ComSpy95 for Windows 95 reports you the activities on your modem thru
  19.    COM port APIs (such as: ReadComm, WriteComm, etc) or Windows Socket APIs
  20.    (i.e. WSOCK32.DLL. such as: send, recv, etc). You can also capture all
  21.    data flowing in and any commands sending out by the programs like WinCim
  22.    (the program you use to connect to CompuServe), IExplore (Internel Explore
  23.    which comes with Windows 95 for free and you use to surf on internet).

  25.    Certainly you can use ComSpy95 to help to find out if your important
  26.    gets stolen when you connect to internet, to find out how your credit
  27.    card or other information gets sent out (is the data encoded as claimed),
  28.    or to capture data to file and you can do anything to it.

  34. Whoever has connected to internet, CompuServe, American Online, etc.
  35. If you suspect that vendors are doing something you don't like when you
  36. connect to their home page or Web site, get ComSpy95 capture all possible
  37. imformation for you.

  45. This diskette contains new release versions of ComSpy for Windows 95 which
  46. operate in MS-Windows 95 on computers with an 80386 or higher processor.

  59. Installation
  60. ============

  62. Step 0: clean up. Before installing this program, delete any old versions
  63.         of FUNCHOOK.DLL, FH95.DLL, and SMIDGEON.VXD (the older versions of
  64.         drivers may be incompatible).
  65.  
  66. Step 1: copy smidgeon.vxd to C:\WIN95\SYSTEM
  67.         (if assume your Windows 95 is installed under C:\WIN95)
  68.  
  69. Step 2: Make a directory on your harddrive and copy the rest files to it.
  70.         We recommend you keep the two text files in case if you need to
  71.         contact us.

  73. TO RUN: start the program from 'Run' under the <Start> button.
  74.

  77. If you are running the registered version, you should register your name
  78. (read PRUDENS.TXT) in order to initiate the program. And do remember to
  79. send in registration form to enable you to receive the update of this
  80. product absolutely free of charge.

  82. The first time you run ComSpy95, it will setup licenced-to information, font
  83. name, and font size automatically. The program uses Arial 7-point font by
  84. default. ComSpy95 lets you customize the font and size to the one you like.
  85. The setting will be saved in COMSPY95.INI (placed under Windows 95 directory).

  87. Note: ComSpy95 does create ComSpy95.Ini under your Windows directory. In this
  88.       INI file, ComSpy95 stores registration information, font, font size,
  89.       setting, and other information. Do not edit this file.

  92. Software Compatibility
  93. ======================
  94.  
  95. ComSpy95 hooks into several Windows APIs. It is known that several software
  96. products may not be compatible with ComSpy95.
  97.  
  98. CAUTION: Running this type of software with ComSpy95 may cause a GPF and
  99.          result in you having to reboot the system.
  100.  
  101. You may avoid this by changing the setting to tell ComSpy95 not to hook into
  102. certain APIs that the other software product also hooks into.
  103.  
  104. ComSpy can not monitor on those program which do not use Windows COM port
  105. APIs or Windows Socket SPIs as expected.

  108. Limitations
  109. ===========
  110.  
  111. Unregistered version of ComSpy95 does not support several functions, for
  112. example, save log to file, save log to clipboard, print log, and the most
  113. useful one - data capture.
  114.
