  1. ChoiceCAD for Windows Micro 1

  4. About ChoiceCAD Micro 1
  5.  
  6. ChoiceCAD for Windows Micro  1 is an evaluation version
  7. of  ChoiceCAD  for  Windows.  It  gives  you  access to
  8. ChoiceCAD's full drawing power. You can import drawings
  9. via  DXF and  DWG and  also bring  in bitmaps. Once you
  10. have  created a  drawing you  can save  it, print it or
  11. plot it, or export it as a DXF or DWG file.
  12.  
  13. ChoiceCAD for  Windows Micro 1 is  limited only in that
  14. it has a  maximum drawing size of 150kb.  If you try to
  15. create, load or import a  drawing larger than 150kb you
  16. will get a Drawing Overflow error message. The parts of
  17. the drawing that exceed 150kb will not be displayed.

  19. The full  version of ChoiceCAD  for Windows costs  just
  20. ╙149 + p&p + VAT (╙183.31). It includes a comprehensive
  21. 3-part    manual   including    Tutorials   and    free
  22. tele-support. There are no drawing size restrictions in
  23. the full version.

  42. Starting ChoiceCAD Micro 1
  43. ==========================

  45. To start ChoiceCAD in Windows  3.1, double click on the
  46. ChoiceCAD icon.
  47.  
  48. To start ChoiceCAD in Windows '95, click on Start, then
  49. Programs, then ChoiceCAD, then ChoiceCAD.

  51. Documentation
  52. =============

  54. ChoiceCAD Micro 1  includes the following documentation
  55. that  you  should  print  out  before  you  start using
  56. ChoiceCAD.

  58. *       A one-page guide to ChoiceCAD's icons.
  59. *       A one-page guide to ChoiceCAD's short-cut keys.
  60. *       A page on drawing lines in ChoiceCAD.
  61. *       Quick Start Guide - a five-page overview of
  62.         using ChoiceCAD.

  64. This  documentation  is  in  the  form  of A4 ChoiceCAD
  65. drawings. To print it out, do the following:
  66.  
  67. Go into ChoiceCAD.
  68.  
  69. 1].     Go to the File Menu and select New.
  70.  
  71. 2].     Go to the Docs Menu. Select the documentation
  72.         you want to print out from the following:

  74.         Short-Cut Key Guide
  75.         Icon Guide
  76.         Drawing Lines
  77.         Quick Start 1
  78.         Quick Start 2
  79.         Quick Start 3
  80.         Quick Start 4

  83. 3].  The drawing  appears on  the screen  together with
  84. Help explaining how to print it.

  86. 4]. Go to the File  Menu and select Print Setup. Select
  87. the printer you want to print  out to - an office laser
  88. printer   or  inkjet   is  ideal.   Ensure  that  paper
  89. orientation is  set to Landscape.  Click on OK  to exit
  90. the Print Setup dialogue box.

  92. 5]. Go  to the File  Menu and select  Print. A dialogue
  93. box appears. Click on OK.
  94.  
  95. 6]. Another dialogue box, the Printer Defaults dialogue
  96. box,  appears. Ensure  that  the  All Colours  to Black
  97. option is not ticked or checked. Click on OK.

  99. 7]. The drawing is printed.

  101.         Note:  If your  printer's print  margins are so
  102.         wide that  some of the drawing  is missing when
  103.         you  print it  out,  try  to print  the drawing
  104.         again using Zoom Print instead of Print in Step
  105.         5. Use Zoom Print's Plot to Fit option. See the
  106.         Help for more information on Zoom Print.

  108. 8].  To clear  the drawing  from the  screen, go to the
  109. File Menu and select New.

  111. NOTE:   The   Geometry   Menu   referred   to   in  the
  112. documentation and  Help is called G  in this version of
  113. ChoiceCAD.

  116. ====
  117.  
  118. ChoiceCAD's   Help   contains   most   of   ChoiceCAD's
  119. illustrated Reference  Manual. Use it! To  print a Help
  120. Topic, go  to the topic  you want to  print, select the
  121. Help's File Menu, then select Print Topic.
  122.  
  123. If  you get  stuck, go  to the  Help and  select Common
  124. Questions  and  Problems.  This  includes  all our most
  125. common  support  questions  and  will  almost certainly
  126. provide an answer.

  128. NOTE:   The   Geometry   Menu   referred   to   in  the
  129. documentation and  Help is called G  in this version of
  130. ChoiceCAD.

  132. ChoiceCAD Add-Ons
  133. =================
  134. Specialised   add-on   programs   are   available   for
  135. ChoiceCAD.   ChoiceCAD   Micro   1   is  supplied  with
  136. information about and samples from the ChoiceCAD add-on
  137. programs Choice Steel, ArchiMATE and MechMATE.

  139. Portal Frames in the Docs  Menu is a sample from Choice
  140. Steel,  ChoiceCAD's  add-on  for  steel  detailing.  It
  141. automatically  draws  portal  frames  according  to the
  142. dimensions typed into a dialogue box.

  144. External  Walls  in  the  Docs  Menu  is  a sample from
  145. ArchiMATE,  ChoiceCAD's   architectural  and  floorplan
  146. layout   add-on.  It   automates  ChoiceCAD's  existing
  147. Parallel  Line function  to make  drawing cavity  walls
  148. quick and easy. See the Walls Tutorial in the Docs Menu
  149. or Help for a worked example of using External Walls.

  151. Bolts  in  the  Docs  Menu  is  a sample from MechMATE,
  152. ChoiceCAD's    mechanical   engineering    add-on.   It
  153. parametrically  draws bolts  to any  metric or imperial
  154. size.

  195. register yourself  as a ChoiceCAD  Micro 1 user.  To do
  196. this, do the following:

  202. 3]. Go to the Docs Menu. Select Register.
