  4.  and very portable program AstroDataFitter 3 (AFIT3.EXE), its online

  43.  Shareware Professionals and will attempt to maintain its policies and

  45.  of the Association of Shareware Professionals will take precedent over
  46.  any current policies or documentation.

  48.  Shareware is "Try-Before-You-Buy" software, it is not free.  We urge

  69.          Nonlinear optimization.  Fully-automated polynomial regression
  70.          with automatic "equation generator".  Easy to use, even by a
  71.          novice.  Will generate interpolated tables from fitted
  72.          equations.  Up to 30 "active" variables.  Up to 500 data
  73.          points.  "Smart" algorithm requires minimal user input to solve
  74.          problems.  DOS text plots of "fit".  Point-by-point listing of
  75.          fitted data.  Residual variance, correlation coefficient,
  76.          coefficient of determination and much more!  Includes program

  92.               Manually Installing Instructions

  95.  The file AFIT3HLP.DOC is a page-image version of the online help file
  96.  AFIT3HLP.HLP.  It is recommended that the user print this file by
  97.  copying it to a standard printer:

  101.      The following are minimal instructions for manually installing
  102.                          AstroDataFitter 3.
  103.  
  104. ■ Minimum distribution files:  README.1ST, AFIT3.ICO, AFIT3.EXE,
  105.   AFIT3HLP.HLP, AFIT3HLP.DOC.  These files may be
  106.   distributed in compressed formats such as FIT312.ZIP.
  107.  
  108. ■ Create a DOS directory named ASTRO3 and change to it:
  109.  
  110.   cd\ (enter)    md\astro3 (enter)  cd \astro3 (enter)
  111.  
  112. ■ Copy distribution file(s) into this directory.
  113.  
  114. ■ If necessary, decompress FIT312.ZIP as follows:
  115.  
  116.   pkunzip FIT312 (enter)

  118. ■ Add these statements to AUTOEXEC.BAT in the base directory:

  120.   ∙ SET ASTRO3=C:\ASTRO3
  121.   ∙ append to existing PATH statement  ;C:\ASTRO3;
  122.   · reboot the computer (ctrl alt del).

  124. ■ Running Under Windows as a Non-Windows Application
  125.  
  126.  Follow the installation instructions and install on the hard drive C.
  127.  Start WINDOWS (tm, MicroSoft).  Click on FILE then click on PROPERTIES.
  128.  Enter the following information for each of the fields.  Description:
  129.  AstroFormCalc 3, Command:  AFIT3.EXE, Working Directory:  \ASTRO3.
  130.  Click on CHANGE ICON.  Enter Filename:  C:\ASTRO3\AFIT3.ICO.  Click on
  131.  OK to exit and click on OK to exit FILE.  The Astro 3 icon should
  132.  appear in the accessory window.  Click on it to run AFIT3.  At "Get
  133.  file" prompt type YES (enter) and at filename prompt type (end esc)
  134.  AFIT3HLP.HLP(enter).
