  1. Welcome to NetPad - The Browser for Thinking People!!!

  5. NetPad is a handy notepad tool for Internet users, or anyone
  6. who spends a lot of time in front of a computer.  NetPad has
  7. the unique ability to mix your own notes and ideas with text
  8. and links you get from the Web.  Use it to jot down notes and
  9. ideas, keep track of your recipes, plan your next holiday, put
  10. together the lyrics for your next album, collect data for your
  11. research, or simply store your Web bookmarks.

  14. -- Please Register --
  15.  
  16. We'd link to encourage you to register once you've tried out NetPad
  17. by going to our Web site at www.flyingobjects.com.  In addition to making
  18. your copy legal and helping to support development of new versions
  19. of the package, registration unlocks the ability to create your own
  20. idea links and prevents the program from expiring.  The NetPad License
  21. Agreement (see below) allows you to use the package for 90 days for
  22. evaluation before paying the license fee, currently set at US$19.95.

  25. -- Installing NetPad -- 
  26.  
  27. NetPad is very simple to install (and uninstall).  The installation
  28. procedure depends upon whether you downloaded the zipped version
  29. (NetPad.zip, or something similar) or the self-extracting version
  30. (NetPadSE.exe, or similar).
  31.  
  32.   -->If you have NetPadSE.exe (or anything.exe): Just run the program.
  33.   It will unpack the required files and start the main installer.
  34.  
  35.   -->If you have NetPad.zip (or anything.zip): Use a zip-compatible
  36.   dearchiver to unpack the zip file into any convenient folder on your
  37.   system.  We recommend creating a new folder for this purpose so that
  38.   you can easily delete the installer files when you're done.  Once the
  39.   files are unzipped, just run the Setup.exe application.

  41. Regardless of which method you used to download NetPad, the rest of
  42. the installation is the same.  The installer will check that a required
  43. component is on your system:

  45.  - Internet Explorer, version 3.0.2 or 4.0.  This is not essential
  46.    just to run the program, but is required for the URL hot links
  47.    to work. NetPad is still very useful without IE.
  48.  
  49. If these items are found, or if you elect to proceed without them,
  50. the installer will create a folder called NetPad in the specified
  51. location and add a shortcut to your Start menu.
  52.  
  53. Once the installation is complete, you can delete all the files that
  54. you downloaded and/or unzipped.  They are no longer required.

  59. All documentation on using NetPad is online in the package.

  71. -- Uninstalling NetPad --
  72.  
  73. To uninstall NetPad, simply double-click on the Uninstaller file in
  74. the NetPad folder.  This will remove all items installed by the
  75. initial installation and any other files in the NetPad folder.

  77. IMPORTANT!!!! If you want to keep any idea text created with NetPad
  78. before uninstalling, make a text file outside the NetPad folder.
  79. Everything in the NetPad folder will be deleted!!!
  80.  
  81. NOTE: For reasons we have not been able to determine yet, the NetPad
  82. uninstaller will not always remove the NetPad folder after all files
  83. have been deleted.  To complete uninstallation, just drag the NetPad
  84. folder to the Recycle Bin.  All other items have been deleted.

  87. -- About This Release --

  89. This is version 2.0b3 of NetPad.  Here are some things you
  90. should know about this release:
  91.  
  92. License:  NetPad is being distributed at this time as "shareware",
  93. meaning you can use the package on your machine for a maximum of
  94. 90 days without paying the license fee.  Please read
  95. the license agreement in more detail below.
  96.  
  97. Beta: This is a beta test version.  In other words: Don't
  98. trust it with your life's work.  Make lots of backups and save the
  99. idea text to a text file periodically in case NetPad messes it up.
  100.  
  101. Bugs and Bug Reporting: We have a list of known bugs (none of which
  102. are fatal) at the time of release, and there are undoubtedly others
  103. that we haven't found yet.  In addition, we would be happy to hear
  104. your suggestions.  This is a new product idea, and your input will
  105. help determine which way it develops.  Please report and bugs or
  106. suggestions by email to tech@flyingobjects.com.

  108. -- NetPad License Agreement --
  109.  
  110. Flying Objects Software Inc. grants free license to anyone to copy and
  111. distribute NetPad as long as:
  112.  
  113. - no charge is made to the receiver beyond the minimal cost of delivery.
  114. (Distribution of NetPad with a large number of other shareware/freeware
  115. packages on CD or other media will be considered to meet this condition.)
  116. - this and all other documentation and notices provided with the package are
  117. included without modification.
  118. - no access code or registration information is included in the copy.

  120. Flying Objects Software Inc. retains all ownership and rights except
  121. as granted by this license.
  122.  
  123. Flying Objects Software Inc. grants to the end user a license to
  124. use NetPad free of charge for 90 days from date of receipt for
  125. evaluation purposes. After that time, the end user must either
  126. uninstall the package or register their ownership and pay the
  127. license fee of $19.95 (U.S. Funds, subject to change without notice).
  128. Payment can be made by credit card on-line at http://www.flyingobjects.com.
  129. In any event, this version of the software will expire 120 days after
  130. installation unless registered.

  133. assumes no liability of any kind for any loss sustained as a
  134. result of the use of this software.

  137. material owned by Flying Objects Software Inc.  All other text
  138. included with the package was derived from public domain sources
  139. in the Internet and is provided only as an example of the types
  140. of information that can be stored. No other approval or claim of
