1. What is Multimedia Xplorer
=============================
Multimedia Xplorer is an easy click'n'view application for viewing/managing most types of multimedia files, including images, sounds, videos, icons and cursors. It is designed to be efficient for power users, and simple for novice users. Includes image converter, slide show editor, startup & shutdown logo changer, Multimedia Detective file finder, icon extractor, batch converter etc.
+ Now saves height and width of both panes (splitter positions) between sessions...
+ Fixed some problems with changing drives, when for example CD-ROM is changed in device and user refreshes browser. Now should display your new CD contents...
+ Wallpaper Position form's history boxes remember last used values again...
+ Now if MX is minimized and you click on associated file, it restores it's window state automatically before displaying file.
+ Some other minor fixes and changes...
What's new in 1.31 over 1.30
=============================
+ If you have associated file with MX and open it by double-clicking, MX opens that file and brings it's window to front now.
+ Last update introduced stupid bug in setup script, where it told that you have an existing copy of MX installed even if you had no previous copy. Then it accidentally installed MX into root directory on some cases. Fixed.
+ Japanese customers can now order MX directly from Japan, from P & A Shareware. See help file for more.
+ Some other minor changes.
What's new in 1.30b over 1.30
=============================
Nothing actually, just recompiled EXE file. I hope this helps to avoid problems with toolbar. In some cases toolbar buttons had no icons.
+ Setup program changed to ask about automatic upgrade and also fixed partially white (that did appear in some cases).
What's new in 1.30 over 1.23
============================
Since MX 2.0 is already in development, no big functional changes and additions in this version. MX 2.0 will be much more Explorer-like and includes many new features.
+ Repeat button to Media Player, so you can play the same media file over and over.
+ Video speed control to Media Player so you can control the speed of videos.
+ Now you can step forward or backwards in Media Player by one video frame at a time by holding dowm the Ctrl key while clicking on stepping buttons.
+ Defaults button to Configuration dialog so you can load "factory" default settings for active page or for all pages.
+ Now you see long hint text on status bar about highlighted main menu item.
+ New very affordable site license prices.
- Convert dialog remembers last used folder if folder in browser is changed.
- Now only shows warning message if you have no proper comctl32.dll and you want to switch on flat toolbar.
- Removed Autoshow Dir Information option from configuration, since it confused users if they forgot it enabled. To see directory information, click on status bar.
- Some other minor fixes and changes.
What's new in 1.23 over 1.22
============================
Just 2 small bugs fixed that 1.22 introduced. These bugs came from upgrading my development software & associated stuff ;-)
+ Hidden folders are again visible and you can browse them as in 1.20. Usable if you would like to browse your Internet Explorer cache files under your Windows\Temp Internet Files folder.
+ "Beep only on image errors" works again.
What's new in 1.22 over 1.20
============================
No big functional changes, only some little cosmetic issues fixed:
+ Optional Flat Toolbar like in Internet Explorer or Office 97. For this option to work OK, you need updated COMCTL32.DLL file (at least version 4.71, 4.70 is not enough) in your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. You can obtain this file from Microsoft web site of from Moon Software web site support area.
+ Slightly improved image display speed.
+ Now MX window looks much better if Full Windows Drag is used (from Plus!) and you resize main window.
+ Fixed some problems with large fonts (About box etc.)

+ Extract All Icons to File menu. You can now extract all icons from EXE, DLL, ICL at once to icon or bitmap files named icon_001.ico (bmp) to icon_00n.ico (bmp).

+ Save Detail View (optional), saves detail view of browser between sessions.

What's new in 1.2 beta 2 over beta 1

+ Batch Conversion, you can convert hundreds of files from one format to another with one step.
+ Convert dialog is now Explorer-like standard save dialog with little modifications.
+ Convert and Batch Conversion dialogs can now automatically save new image with similar color resolution as source image. Choose 'Automatic' color resolution. If certain color resolutions are not allowed in certain graphic format (e.g. black & white in GIF), then next allowed color resolution is choosed automatically (16-color) etc.
+ new commands to stretch wallpaper fit the screen and to position by Left/Top coordinates.
+ Multimedia Detective now allows you to browse only certain types by automatically setting image filter.
+ Beep Only on image error option, doesn't show message box, only beeps.

+ Progressive JPEG support.
+ MP2 - MPEG audio format with properly installed MCI driver (ActiveMovie)
+ CUR, Windows cursor file support, convert to any of supported formats.
+ ANI, animated cursor. Support for ANI may seem a bit strange to you because MX changes your mouse cursor to the one of interest if it is over the display area. If you browse a set of ANI files with keyboard, your can position your pointer over the display area and browse files with arrow keys as with any other file type.
+ EMF, enhanced metafile support. Read-only (the same level as WMF).
+ Logo changer, you can replace Windows startup & shutdown images (logos) with your own ones.
+ Now you can convert any bitmap image to 320 x 400 x 256 color image, that can be used as startup or shutdown logo. This can be done like all other conversions.
+ Connect Network Drive to the popup-menu of drive combo.
+ On refreshing and sorting, selected file is scrolled into visible area automatically in browser.
+ "Switch to Desktop" command to the popup menu of the directory list.
+ Duplicate "Set as Wallpaper" command to the popup menu of image in display area.
+ Now uses mainly DDE to open files. If you have one copy of MX already running and you double-click on associated file in Explorer, new file is showed in existing MX and second instance will not launched.
+ Large black & white TIFF images load up to 5 times faster!
3. Known Issues
===============
* Some animated GIF files cause GPF in Sky32v3c.DLL (image library MX uses). Especially these ones created with ULead GIF Animator. This is bug in imaging library and since this is 3rd party library, it's not under control of Moon Software to fix it quickly. I have notified the company who makes this product and hope to get this problem fixed soon.
* If one image is loading, starting loading of second doesn't stop first, but loads second and then continues to load first. You must stop loading first by hitting the Esc key and then selecting second one to load.
* If disk becomes full during batch conversion, you'll get no error message, but all files that will not fit to disk will be 0 byte length.
* Batch Conversion dialog doesn't fit entirely on screen with 640x480 resolution (or 800x600 with large fonts).
4. Network
==========
If you have obtained multiple licenses or site license, you can put the license file mxplorer.lic into the Multimedia Xplorer folder on file server. Then you don't need to manually enter reg. code in each workstation accessing it through server.
The mxplorer.lic file is sent to you along with your registration information only if you have purchased site license or multiple copies of Multimedia Xplorer.
NOTE: This feature requires Multimedia Xplorer 1.30 or newer, so if you have older version and qualify to license file, please write to moon software and ask license file for your company/school. You need to download the latest version of software too.
