  1. FaxMail Network for Windows Installation
  2.  
  3. Installing or reinstalling the shareware version of FaxMail Network for 
  4. Windows:
  5.  
  6. Be sure to get the newest version from our www-page.
  7.  
  8. Be sure to log on as the administrator.
  9.  
  10. Be sure that FaxMail has full read/write access.
  11.  
  12. Be sure the time and date are the same on all computers on the network.
  13.  
  14. To install FaxMail on Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.xx, use <Start>, <Run>,
  15. <Browse> and browse to the directory where you UnZiped FaxMail and select
  16. INSTALL.EXE. Do not run INSTALL.EXE in any way other than the way just
  17. described.
  18.  
  19. Install or reinstalling FaxMail without any programs or virus scanners 
  20. running in the background. Be sure that, not even, FaxMail is running in
  21. the background. Be sure that the FaxMail INSTALL.EXE has read/write access
  22. to the HardDrive and all files. Otherwise some files may not get copied or
  23. modified. Re-boot immediately after installing.

  25. The install instructions are in the INSTALL.EXE.

  27. Be very careful when asked for this computerÆs HardDrive. This computerÆs 
  28. HardDrive should usually be C: drive. If installing on a network you will 
  29. select the Server HardDrive later.

  31. If installing on a standalone computer, do nothing. If installing on a 
  32. network, the Server HardDrive is the mapped drive that all instances on 
  33. FaxMail will be using as their [Server HardDrive]. Do not map to FAXMAILN 
  34. directory.

  36. You may need to reinstall all workstations. Be VERY careful when asked for
  37. THIS COMPUTERS HardDrive and then for the SERVER HardDrive. THIS COMPUTERS
  38. HardDrive is normaly C: drive.

  40. If you have mapped the workstation 2 SERVER HardDrive to the
  41. ServerDriveLetter:\FAXMAILN, it will not work. You will need to re-map it
  42. to ServerDriveLetter:\
  43.  
  44. You can use paths if you are good with mapping directories.
  45.  
  46. To learn how to map to a directory instead of the root of a server drive,
  47. go to www.ElectraSoft.com, the bottom of [Run FaxMail Network for Windows
  48. as an NT Service] and read the message thread on this subject.
  49.  
  50. You may want to dedicate a whole server drive to FaxMail.
  51.  
  52. After final installation:
  53. If you have installed FaxMail two or more times; once on one HardDrive 
  54. and once on another, go to the <printers> and be sure that the ?:\TOFAX 
  55. port is correct. Where ? is the HardDriveLetter that FaxMail is installed 
  56. on.

  58. FaxMail Convert to Fax MUST use ?:\TOFAX as its port!
  59.  
  60. Be sure you do *NOT* have a directory or file called ?:\TOFAX on the 
  61. system.

  63. Do not share the FaxMail Convert to Fax on ?:\TOFAX.  Each station has 
  64. its own.
  65.  
  66. All versions of Windows except NT will have the FaxMail Convert to Fax 
  67. available now.
  68.  
  69. If you have Windows NT, go to the Printer-Installer and create the
  70. [FaxMail NT Convert to Fax] as per the FaxMail README instructions. The
  71. section you want to read is called WINDOWS NT.
