  37. This release of the "HP LaserJet 5/5M PostScript Printer PPD" supports 
  38. the PostScript printer language with the HP LaserJet 5/5M printer. 
  39. It includes the following components:

  42. PPD File For Windows NT 3.51:        Version 1.00
  43. INF File For Windows NT 3.51:        Version 1.00

  46. If you have received the Printer Driver files through electronic 
  47. distribution services, go to the section "Installation Instructions - 
  48. Typical Installation" below.

  52. BEFORE YOU INSTALL!

  55. - Close all applications and programs that load at startup such as 
  56. virus checkers, fax utilities, etc., and all other applications that 
  57. may be open. 
  58. - Close any shell utilities such as: Microsoft Office Manager, Norton 
  59. Desktop, Dashboard, etc.

  64. In order to close some shell utilities you will need to de-install the
  65. software.  Refer to the documentation provided with that utility.

  68. Hint: Simultaneously press [Ctrl] and [Esc] to launch the "Task List" 
  69. window. In it select each application, except Program Manager, and click 
  70. on "End Task" to close it.

  73. the HP LaserJet 5/5M PostScript Printer PPD, you can turn these programs back on.

  78. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS - Typical Installation

  81. For printing to the HP LaserJet 5/5M printer using PostScript, Hewlett-Packard recommends the use of the HP LaserJet 5/5M PostScript Printer PPD.

  84. Installing your printer for Windows NT 3.51 for the first time:
  85. ----------------------------------------------------------------------
  86. 1. Go to Main in Program Manager and select "Control Panel"
  87. 2. Select "Printers"
  88. 3. Under Printer, choose "Create Printer"
  89. 4. Under Drivers, choose "Other..."
  90. 5. Put "HP LaserJet 5/5M PostScript Printer PPD Disk" into appropriate 
  91. disk drive (change path if necessary)
  92. 6. Choose <OK> to select the "HP LaserJet 5/5M PostScript"
  93. 7. When asked to enter the full path of the Windows NT 
  94. distribution files, again, enter the same source or path 
  95. specified in step 5 and choose <Continue>
  96. 8. Complete the printer configuration process (enter printer name, etc.)

  140. Printing System Version 31.V1.01 ("Software") provided that (i) the 
  141. Software is not distributed for profit; (ii) the Software is used only 
  142. in conjunction with an HP LaserJet 5/5M printer; (iii) the 
  143. Software may NOT be modified; (iv) all copyright notices are maintained 
  144. on the Software; (v) the licensee/end user agrees to be bound by the 
  145. terms of this Agreement; and (vi) all components of the Software are 
  146. distributed together.

  148. 2. COPYRIGHT. The Software is owned by Hewlett-Packard or its suppliers 
  149. and is protected by United States copyright laws and international 
  150. treaty provisions. You may not remove the copyright notice from any copy
