First words, you need to understand and agree to all of these statements.
1. You may not reproduce or distribute this application as an incomplete package. The complete package is a ZIPped file containing two files: CIC.EXE and README.TXT.
2. You may not modify any of the files as described at the first statement.
3. You may not unassemble or reverse engineer this application in any way.
4. The author is not responsible for any damage caused by this application.
Application Description
-----------------------
CiC is an application to convert generic CD-ROM data track images. It support most of the track types such as Mode 1 data-only, Raw Mode 1, Mode 2 Form 1 with sub-header and Mode 2 Form 2 with sub-header & EDC. For complete list of supported track types, see the "Track Types Supported" section.
Please note that there are some things which I do not mention in this file. If you do not know about them, well... you shouldn't get this program in the first place. This application is not for lamers. But if you are desprate, send me a message with the main reason why you need to know.
Installing
----------
There are no special task to install. Just unzip the package which contains two files, this file (you are reading it) and the program file (CIC.EXE).
Uninstalling
------------
CiC does not use saved configuration, so it does not write any INI files nor the registry. To unistall CiC, just delete the README.TXT and the CIC.EXE files and you're done, no leftovers (poor thing...).
Launching/Running
-----------------
Please note that my system is Windows 98Se and I haven't test it on other version of Windows but I receive some report that it works on Windows 95, Me, and NT4. For general program launching/running, I'm still not going to talk about this (except for fatal errors: please send me a message).
Usage
-----
The user interface is straight forward and simple. If you don't know how to use it, then you're a beginner (even in Windows. DUH!).
Header Settings
---------------
These settings allows you to set the starting sector address of the converted image file and optionally override its sector mode.
All these settings are only available when the target track type is Raw. Using these settings, Sub-header Settings and the Sub-mode Settings can give you a very customized track images which are good for CD-ROM protection or propietary CD-ROM format.
Sub-Header Settings
-------------------
The sub-header is an attributes used to identify and describe the reading method for use by the CD-ROM drive and are only available in sector Mode 2.
The sub-header and the sub-mode are mostly used by Video CDs, Super Video CDs, CD-i Discs and PlayStation CDs.
Sub-mode Settings
-----------------
The Sub-mode Settings are used to filter or override the default sub-mode. The sub-mode is an attribute describing the image's sector type. These settings is enabled and used only when the target image type is Mode 2. Also see the "Non-Sub-headered to Sub-headerd Conversion" section.
You can use it to force the sub-mode to Form 2 while the conversion Mode is set to Form 1. With the settings applied, you will get a Mode 2 Form 1 formatted image file but identified as Form 2. Neat, eh? ;)
Non-Raw to Raw Conversion
---------------------------
Converting non-Raw to Raw image file adds a synchronization block and a header. All converted image files will start at 00:02.00 (min:sec.frame) and the sector mode byte will be set according to the target type.
Non-Headered to Headerd Conversion
------------------------------------------
Converting non-headered to headered (eg. Mode 1 Data only to Raw Mode 1) will add a predefined/default header. The default starting address is 00:02.00 and the sector mode is set according to target sector mode.
If the target sector mode is Mode 2, the Sub-Header and the Sub-Mode buttons will be enabled (see the "Sub-Header Settings" and the "Sub-Mode Settings" sections).
Non-Sub-Headered to Sub-Headerd Conversion
------------------------------------------
Converting non-sub-header to sub-headered (eg. Mode 1 Data only to Subheader+Mode 2 Form 1 Data) will add a predefined/default sub-header. The default bytes except the sub-mode are zeroes. The default sub-mode Data flag is enabled and the Form 2 flag depends on the target conversion type.
The Sub-mode button will be enabled when using this type of conversion (see the "Sub-Mode Settings" section).
Non-ECC/EDCed to ECC/EDCed Conversion
-------------------------------------
When using this type of conversion, all the neccesarry ECC (level 1 & 2) and EDC are calculated and generated to meet the standard requirement. It's a pitty that the CeQuadrat's WinOnCD did not do this (shame on you!). This is the main reason why I wrote this application.

Below are the track types supported by this application. Currently, the conversion to image files with sub-channel is not implemented yet and it is underway (please be patient).

Currently I do not have a web site because I do not have enough resources to provide yet. It'll be available right after the version 2 is released.
Oh yeah... I almost forgot. I have analyzed the sub-channel data in the WinOnCD C2D CD image but I can't map all the sub-channel entry structure, just the user data. If any of you have an information on this subject, I would be very thankful.
