  20. I. What is QuickSetup?
  21. ----------------------------------------------------------
  22. QuickSetup InstallEngine is a utility for creating installations for your applications.
  23. QuickSetup is an easy and inexpensive way to give your applications a setup program with a professional look.

  25. The QuickSetup package contains the QuickSetup Builder - a design program in which you design the
  26. installations. In the QuickSetup Builder, you choose which files to install, specify changes to the Windows Registry, set up shortcuts in the Start Menu, and more.
  27. The files are organized into groups, and the groups are organized into components that are useful when creating Compact and Custom setup types.

  29. The QuickSetup installation itself can be:
  30. * A Traditional setup wizard that shows license agreement, readme file and so on
  31. * A Handy, one-window setup, where only the most impotant features are present and the application can be installed with a single mouse click

  33. QuickSetup lets you create disk spanned setups, self-extractors, and more. Installations made with QuickSetup automaticly places an uninstaller in the [Control Panel]-[Add/Remove Programs].

  35. Installations made with QuickSetup run on Windows 95/98/NT4/2000. This means that you can use QuickSetup for all of your Windows applications without having to worry about the setup program's compatibility with the different Windows platforms.

  37. No programming skills are required for using QuickSetup. You only need a few mouse clicks to create the setups.

  43. II. System requirements

  45. To run the QuickSetup Builder, the following configuration is recommended for best performance:

  47. * Pentium 120 MHz
  48. * 16 MB RAM
  49. * Mouse
  50. The QuickSetup package consumes about 2 megs of hard disk space.

  55. To install QuickSetup InstallEngine, unpack the .zip file using a compression utility - WinZip, for example. When unpacked, run SETUP.EXE and follow the instructions that are given to you on the screen.

  60. Windows 2000 users only: When QuickSetup Builder is run for the first time, it might raise an exception; ignore this. It will only appear the first time the QuickSetup Builder is run, and it will not affect the performance of the program.
