  44.      It is advisable to follow the sequence of installing the drivers 
  45.      (either section 2, 3 or 4) before you install the Creative PC-DVD 
  46.      Encore Dxr3 software (section 5).

  49. 2.   How to install the drivers in Windows 95
  50.      -----------------------------------------
  51.  
  52.      For Windows 95 users, you need to know which version of
  53.      Windows 95 you are using before you proceed.
  54.  
  55.      To check the version of Windows 95 you are using:
  56.  
  57.      1.  On the Windows desktop, right-click the My Computer icon.
  58.      2.  On the menu that appears, click Properties.
  59.      The System Properties dialog box appears with the General
  60.      tabbed page displayed.
  61.      3.  Look at the entry under System.
  62.      If it states:     Microsoft Windows 95
  63.                4.00.950 B
  64.  
  65.      then you have the OSR2 version of Windows 95.
  66.  
  67.      Older versions of Windows 95 will have either '4.00.950' 
  68.      or '4.00.950 A'
  69.  
  70.      Now, proceed to one of the following sections:
  71.  
  72.      A. To install the drivers in Windows 95 (Retail version)
  73.      B. To install the drivers in Windows 95 (OSR2 and later)

  76.      A. To install the drivers in Windows 95 (Retail version):

  79.      1.  Click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel.
  80.  
  81.      2.  In the "Control Panel" window, double-click the "System" icon.
  82.  
  83.      3.     In the "System Properties" dialog box, click the "Device 
  84.      Manager" tab.
  85.  
  86.      4.  Click the plus (+) sign next to "Sound, video, and game
  87.      controllers" and double-click "Creative PC-DVD Encore Dxr3".

  89.      5.  Click the "Driver" tab.
  90.  
  91.      6.  Click the "Change Driver" button.

  93.      7.  Click the "Have Disk" button.
  94.  
  95.      8.  Click the "Browse" button and go to the Setup subfolder of the 
  96.      folder where you have placed the downloaded files.
  97.      Click the "OK" button.

  99.      9.  Click the "Finish" button.

  101.     10.  After the drivers are updated, RESTART THE SYSTEM.

  103.     11.  Proceed to section 5, "How to upgrade Creative PC-DVD Encore 
  104.      Dxr3 software".

  107.      B. To install the drivers in In Windows 95 (OSR2 version or later):

  110.      1.  Click -> Start -> Settings -> Control Panel.
  111.  
  112.      2.  In the "Control Panel" window, double-click the "System" icon.
  113.  
  114.      3.  In the "System Properties" dialog box, click the "Device Manager"
  115.      tab.
  116.  
  117.      4.  Click the plus (+) sign next to "Sound, video, and game
  118.      controllers" and double-click "Creative PC-DVD Encore Dxr3".
  119.  
  120.      5.  Click the "Driver" tab.
  121.  
  122.      6.  Click the "Update Driver" button.
  123.  
  124.      7.  Select the "Yes (Recommended)" option button.
  125.  
  126.      8.  Click the "Next" button.
  127.  
  128.      9.  When the "Other Locations" button appears, click it.
  129.  
  130.     10.  Click the "Browse" button and go to the "Setup" subfolder of the 
  131.      folder where you have placed the downloaded files.
  132.      Click the "OK" button.
  133.  
  134.     11.  Click the "Finish" button.
  135.  
  136.     12.  After the drivers are updated, restart the system.

  138.     13.  Proceed to section 5, "How to upgrade Creative PC-DVD Encore

  142. 3.   How to install the drivers in Windows 98
  143.      -----------------------------------------

  145.      To install the drivers in Windows 98:
  146.  
  147.      1.  Click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel.
  148.  
  149.      2.  In the "Control Panel" window, double-click the "System" icon.
  150.  
  151.      3.  In the "System Properties" dialog box, click the "Device
  152.          Manager" tab.
  153.  
  154.      4.  Click the plus (+) sign next to "Sound, video, and game
  155.          controllers" and double-click "Creative PC-DVD Encore Dxr3".
  156.  
  157.      5.  Click the "Driver" tab.
  158.  
  159.      6.  In the "Driver" dialog box, click the "Update Drivers" button.
  160.  
  161.      7.  In the "Update Device Driver Wizard" dialog box, click the
  162.          "Next" button.
  163.  
  164.      8.  Select the option "Display a list of all the drivers in a
  165.          specific location, so you can select the driver you want".
  166.  
  167.      9.  Click the "Next" button.
  168.  
  169.      10. Click the "Have Disk" button.
  170.  
  171.      11. In the "Install From Disk" dialog box, browse to the folder
  172.          \DRIVERS\WIN9x.
  173.  
  174.      12. In the "Open" dialog box, select "ctdvdenc.inf" and click the
  175.          "OK" button.
  176.  
  177.      13. In the "Install From Disk" dialog box, click the "OK" button.
  178.  
  179.      14. In the "Select Device" dialog box, make sure that the device
  180.          Creative PC-DVD Encore Dxr3 is selected and click the "OK" button.
  181.          The new drivers are copied to your system.
  182.  
  183.      15. Click the "Finish" button and restart your system.
  184.  
  185.      16. Proceed to section 5, "How to upgrade Creative PC-DVD Encore
  186.          Dxr3 software."

  189. 4.   How to install the drivers in Windows NT 4.0
  190.      ----------------------------------------------

  192.      To install the drivers in Windows NT 4.0:   
  193.  
  194.      1.  Browse to the folder \DRIVERS\WINNT40 and run NT40DRV.EXE.
  195.  
  196.      2.  Restart your system.
  197.

  199.      If your current package does not contain the Windows NT 4.0
  200.      drivers, and if you have not yet installed your card, then
  201.      you must perform the first installation on a Windows 9x
  202.      platform. If you do not have a Windows 9x platform, you will
  203.      not be able to perform the installation.
  204.  
  205.      Windows NT 4.0 Symmetric Multiple Processing (SMP) is not
  206.      supported in this release.
  207.  
  208.  
  209. 5.   How to upgrade Creative PC-DVD Encore Dxr3 software
  210.      ----------------------------------------------------
  211.  
  212.      To install the Creative PC-DVD Encore Dxr3 software in Windows 95/98
  213.      and Windows NT 4.0:
  214.  
  215.      1.  Browse to the folder \APPL and run SETUP.EXE.
  216.      The setup program runs and Creative PC-DVD Encore Dxr3 software
  217.      will be installed.
  218.  
  219.      2.  If you have previously installed the Creative PC-DVD Encore 
  220.          Dxr3 software, the message box "An older version of the software 
  221.      package has been installed in the system. It is advisable to 
  222.      uninstall it first before running this setup" will appear.  
  223.      If this happens, click the "Yes" button to uninstall the 
  224.      previous version and continue with the installation.
  225.  
  226.      3.  Restart your system.
