  11.   DEFINITION OF SHAREWARE
  12.  
  13.   Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software before
  14.   buying it. If you try a Shareware program and continue using it, you
  15.   are expected to register. Individual programs differ on details --
  16.   some request registration while others require it, some specify a
  17.   maximum trial period. With registration, you get anything from the
  18.   simple right to continue using the software to an updated program
  19.   with printed manual. 
  20.  
  21.   Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial software, and
  22.   the copyright holder retains all rights, with a few specific
  23.   exceptions as stated below. Shareware authors are accomplished
  24.   programmers, just like commercial authors, and the programs are of
  25.   comparable quality. (In both cases, there are good programs and bad
  26.   ones!) The main difference is in the method of distribution. The
  27.   author specifically grants the right to copy and distribute the
  28.   software, either to all and sundry or to a specific group. For
  29.   example, some authors require written permission before a commercial
  30.   disk vendor may copy their Shareware.

  32.   Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software. You
  33.   should find software that suits your needs and pocketbook, whether
  34.   it's commercial or Shareware. The Shareware system makes fitting your
  35.   needs easier, because you can try before you buy. And because the
  36.   overhead is low, prices are low also. Shareware has the ultimate
  37.   money-back guarantee -- if you don't use the product, you don't pay
  38.   for it.

  42.   Users of DRDINING must accept this disclaimer of warranty:
  43.    "DRDINING is supplied as is.  The author disclaims all warranties,
  44.   expressed or implied, including, without limitation, the warranties
  45.   of merchantability and of fitness for any purpose. The author assumes
  46.   no liability for damages, direct or consequential, which may result
  47.   from the use of DRDINING."

  49.   DRDINING is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge to the
  50.   user for evaluation.  Feel free to share it with your friends, but
  51.   please do not give it away altered or as part of another system.  The
  52.   essence of "user-supported" software is to provide personal computer
  53.   users with quality software without high prices, and yet to provide
  54.   incentive for programmers to continue to develop new products.  If

  61.   you find this program useful and find that you are using DRDINING and
  62.   continue to use DRDINING after a reasonable trial period, you must
  63.   make a registration payment of $149.50 (US funds) to R. A. GORMAN -
  64.   CONSULTANT.  The $149.50 registration fee will license one copy for
  65.   use on any one computer at any one time.  You must treat this
  66.   software just like a book.  An example is that this software may be
  67.   used by any number of people and may be freely moved from one
  68.   computer location to another, so long as there is no possibility of
  69.   it being used at one location while it's being used at another. Just
  70.   as a book cannot be read by two different persons at the same time.

  72.   Commercial users of DRDINING must register and pay for their copies
  73.   of DRDINING within 30 days of first use or their license is
  74.   withdrawn.  Site-License arrangements may be made by contacting R. A.
  75.   GORMAN - CONSULTANT.

  77.   Anyone distributing DRDINING for any kind of remuneration must first
  78.   contact R. A. GORMAN - CONSULTANT at the address below for
  79.   authorization. This authorization will be automatically granted to
  80.   distributors recognized by the (ASP) as adhering to its guidelines for
  81.   shareware distributors, and such distributors may begin offering
  82.   DRDINING immediately (However R. A. GORMAN - CONSULTANT must still be
  83.   advised so that the distributor can be kept up-to-date with the latest
  84.   version of DRDINING.).

  86.   You are encouraged to pass a copy of DRDINING along to your friends for
  87.   evaluation.  Please encourage them to register their copy if they find
  88.   that they can use it.  All registered users will receive a copy of the
  89.   latest version of the DRDINING system.

  92.   WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE:

  94.   IF YOU DOWNLOADED THE DRDINING SOFTWARE ELECTRONICALLY

  96.   If you downloaded the DRDINING software electronically you will have a
  97.   file called DINING.EXE or DINING.ZIP
  98.  
  99.   Make a directory on your hard drive (usually C:) called DRDINING, and
  100.   copy the file DINING into it.  Move to that directory if necessary
  101.   by typing CD \DRDINING <enter>.  Uncompress the file DINING.EXE by typing 
  102.                       DINING <enter> 
  103.   or uncompress the file DINING.ZIP file using PKUNZIP, or other utility.

  105.   IF YOU RECEIVED THE FILE ON A DISK:
  106.  
  107.   The disk should contain a file called DINING.EXE. Make a directory on
  108.   your hard drive (usually C:) called DRDINING, and move to that
  109.   directory if necessary by typing CD \DRDINING <enter>. Put the disk

  116.   into your A: drive (or B:). Uncompress the file by typing A:\DINING
  117.   <enter>.

  192.   START THE INSTALL:

  195.   Move to the directory on the hard drive where the DINING files are
  196.   located if necessary.

  198.   Type INSTALL <enter>     OR        type DRDINING S C CH <enter>
  199.

  201.   This will start the program.  The "S" parameter goes right into SETUP
  202.   so that you can enter some of your company information.  The "C" and
  203.   "CH" parameters cause the program to create the necessary indices.
  204.  
  205.   You may view or print the various information files, and the manual, by
  206.   entering the program with the "MANUAL" parameter - 
  207.  
  208.                  DRDINING MANUAL
  209.  
  210.   You will have an option to READ, PRINT, or SKIP the SETUP.PRN file. 
  211.   This file contains the instructions for initially setting up the system
  212.   with your own information.  WE RECOMMEND STRONGLY THAT YOU PRINT THIS
  213.   FILE, AND HAVE IT ON HAND during setup.  This information is duplicated
  214.   in MANUAL.PRN.  You will also have an option to read or print the
  215.   manual.

  217.   When this option is finished, you have an option to READ, PRINT, or
  218.

  224.   SKIP the REGISTRATION.PRN file.  We suggest that you print it now for
  225.   convenience, and make use of it should you decide that the software
  226.   fits your needs and you wish to register it.

  228.   To run the program normally, for use, type

  230.                  DRDINING <enter>
  231.  
  232.   Note that the sample data as supplied uses MGR as a server secret ID.
  233.  
  234.   The program when installed contains sample data, so that you may
  235.   investigate it quickly and easily.  When it is time to "go live", run
  236.   the program with the EMPTYDATA parameter
  237.  
  238.                  DRDINING EMPTYDATA <enter>
  239.  
  240.   This will cause the program to replace the sample data with empty data,
  241.   ready for you to enter your actual company information.  Note that ALL
  242.   DATA MUST BE RE-ENTERED.

  245.   WHY SHOULD YOU REGISTER?
  246.  
  247.   This is a shareware version of DRDINING.  It is limited to operation
  248.   for 30 days after its first use, and then it will require reloading,
  249.   and THE BLANK DATA REINSTALLED.

  251.   Upon registration, we will send you by mail the latest version (if
  252.   there is one) of the software, and a comprehensive printed operation
  253.   manual.

  255.   We will give you a code to key into your program which will allow you
  256.   to use the TIMECLOCK feature and will allow you to use the program with
  257.   no time restriction.  It will also remove the Shareware message on
  258.   startup.

  260.   You will receive 90 days of free telephone support from date of first
  261.   use at 905-388-9624.

  263.   WHEN YOU REGISTER A SECOND COPY of the program for the same company at
  264.   the same address on the same computer system you will receive a site
  265.   license for up to 10 stations, and a code to key into the program
  266.   allowing full LAN network functionality.  You will also receive the
  267.   DROFFICE software, that will allow you to do day=end closing from the
  268.   office semi-automatically.

  293.   RUNNING THE PROGRAM.
  294.  
  295.   The program requires at least 2 mb extended RAM memory.  The program will    
  296.   run without any memory management (HIMEM.SYS) being available in most    
  297.   instances.  If error messages indicate that HIMEM.SYS is required, then the  
  298.   following line must be added to your CONFIG.SYS file, in your boot directory
  299.   (usually C:\), if it (or one like it) is not already there:
  300.  
  301.             DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS
  302.  
  303.  
  304.   If it was necessary to add HIMEM to the CONFIG.SYS file, then the
  305.   computer must be rebooted to cause it to take effect.
  306.  
  307.   We suggest, if your CONFIG.SYS file, and your AUTOEXEC.BAT file are
  308.   complicated, and you do not wish to alter them, that you do the
  309.   following:
  310.  
  311.   Format a floppy disk, using the "/s" option to make it bootable.
  312.  
  313.   Copy the file CONFIG.DRD from your DRDINING installation directory to
  314.   the floppy disk, calling it CONFIG.SYS.
  315.  
  316.   Copy the file AUTOEXEC.DRD from your DRDINING installation directory to
  317.   the floppy disk, calling it AUTOEXEC.SYS.
  318.  
  319.   Reboot the computer, using the new floppy disk.  It will then set up
  320.   HIMEM, change to the C: drive, change to the DRDINING directory, and
  321.   run the program by executing the command DRDINING.
  322.  
  323.   If the computer has HIMEM installed, and you do not use a separate
  324.   floppy disk to boot, then go to the DRDINING installation directory (if
  325.   set up using the defaults, this is c:\DRDINING), and type DRDINING
  326.   <enter>.
