  1. Welcome to More Space 95 for Windows 95!  This popular shareware 
  2. utility was written to help you clean up your hard disk.  It does 
  3. this by identifying file duplicates, large files, old files 
  4. and obsolete files.
  5.  
  6. If you don't want More Space 95, it comes with an uninstall option
  7. which will clean itself off your hard disk.
  8.  
  9. Duplicates can be identified by several different criteria:
  10.  
  11.   1) Name only
  12.   2) Name and size
  13.   3) Name, size and modified date/time
  14.   4) Size only
  15.   5) Size and modified date/time
  16.   6) Size and type
  17.   7) Type and modified date/time
  18.  
  19. Once the duplicates are identified you can view each pair of duplicates
  20. on a split screen comparing dates, times, attributes, sizes and even
  21. the file contents.  The differences are color highlighted between file
  22. pairs giving you an easy way to determine which file you need to keep.
  23. Many DLL and EXE files contain extra version information normally not 
  24. visible.  This extra information is also displayed in the file pair
  25. display.

  27. Large files (or file hogs) are identified by size with the largest files
  28. appearing at the top of the list.  You can also identify zero length
  29. files.
  30.  
  31. Old obsolete files are identified by access date, creation date and 
  32. modification date.  You can view all files that were accessed today.
  33. You can view all files that are more than 3 years old.
  34.  
  35. Large obsolete folders are also displayed as each folder and all sub-folders
  36. and files are totalled under each main folder.
  37.  
  38. You can quickly clean up your hard disk searching for particular types of
  39. file extensions such as TMP, $$$, OLD, BAK.

  41. The file/disk statistics are very powerful in that they can total up the
  42. cumulative file sizes, file ages, file types and usage times of each
  43. file on the hard disk.  All graphs are very easy to read and in 3D.  You
  44. can zoom in any graph simply by dragging the mouse from the upper left
  45. to the lower right area of the area in view.  The time statistic can be
  46. interesting particularly if you work with a specific set of file types
  47. on a daily basis.  For example if you work with *.DOC and *.XLS files
  48. everyday you can include only these file types during statistic collection
  49. and you will be rewarded with a 24 hour chart that lists the peak times
  50. of activity during the day.

  52. Sometimes it is nice to be able to 'peek' inside of a program file ... i.e. you
  53. want to view the english strings inside which may reveal copyright information,
  54. author information, error messages and such.  More Space allows you to PEEK 
  55. inside a file while browsing.  Generally most information inside of 
  56. program files such as EXE or DLL files looks like heiroglyphics.  The peek 
  57. function will get past the heiroglyphics and get you to english language
  58. strings.  This can be very informative as oftentimes software vendors will
  59. include some very revealing information such as the names of the programmers
  60. involved in the project or some nasty error messages.

  62. More Space 95 is available as shareware.  The registered version allows you
  63. to search for duplicates and gather statistics over multiple mapped drives.
