  2. Network Drivers Installation Notes
  3.  
  4.               WINDOWS 3.1X AND NOVELL NETWARE
  5.  
  6.  
  7. This document describes how to configure the LAN PC Card
  8. for use with Windows V3.1x (Not Windows for Workgroups) and
  9. Novell NetWare. These procedures are also described in the
  10. EtherLink III LAN PC Card User Guide.
  11.  
  12. NOTE: The following instructions assume you have not installed
  13.       any other network adapter in the PC. If networking
  14.       has already been installed, some of the instructions will
  15.       not apply or appear accurate. Consult with your MIS 
  16.       department for further instructions.
  17.  
  18. Before installing the network driver, you should know the 
  19. transport used in the Novell Network (typically IPX/SPX) and
  20. have access to the following software components:
  21.  
  22.     - Novell NetWare VLM Client disks for DOS and Windows
  23.     - The EtherDisk diskette that came with your 3C589D LAN PC Card.
  24.  
  25. Installation Instructions
  26.  
  27. 1.  Boot the PC in DOS. If the PC starts up in Windows,
  28.     exit Windows to return to the DOS prompt. 
  29.  
  30. 2.  Place the Novell VLM client disk #1 in the floppy drive. Type:
  31.  
  32.         a:\install <Enter>.
  33.  
  34.     This opens the NetWare client installation screen.
  35.  
  36. 3.  Use the down arrow key to move from line to line. Ensure 
  37.     that the information is correct. When you are asked to select
  38.     the driver for your network card, press <Enter> to see the
  39.     list of supported adapters. At the bottom of the list, find
  40.     and select Other Drivers.
  41.  
  42. 4.  When prompted for a driver disk, put the EtherDisk in your 
  43.     floppy drive and press <Enter>. 3Com EtherLink III LAN
  44.     PC Card Adapter should appear as the first item on the
  45.     list. Click to select it and press <ENTER>.
  46.  
  47. 5.  Specify the frame type by pressing <ENTER> and choosing the
  48.     appropriate type from the list. Press <Enter> to select your
  49.     choice. (You will not need to select an I/O Base. Use the
  50.     default.)
  51.  
  52. 6.  Press F10 to return to the main installation screen. Position
  53.     the cursor on line 6 and press <Enter>. The installer
  54.     prompts for several diskettes and notifies you when the
  55.     installation is complete.
  56.  
  57. 7.  Press <Enter> to exit the installation program and return to DOS.
  58.  
  59. 8. Reboot the PC by hitting <CTRL><ALT><DEL>. When you 
  60.     go into Windows You will be able to LOGIN to the 
  61.     Novell Servers.
