  63. Please copy this new "MDMZYXES.INF" (internal rev. 1.03, 2/12/1997) into your

  65. "\WINDOWS\INF\" directory (which is a hidden (!) directory). Check that there
  66.  
  67. does not exist any "OEMn.INF" (n is a digit) files for other ZyXEL modems.
  68.  
  69. You'll have to look into the "OEMn.INF" by opening it with the NOTEPAD.EXE
  70.  
  71. (or any other ASCII editor). If the "OEMn.INF" starts with any version note
  72.  
  73. which reflects to the ZyXEL modems, then please delete this file !

  77. Install your ZyXEL Elite 2864 with firmware v1.15 by using the "modems"

  79. wizard in the control panel - the Windows95 registry will be updated

  103.    This is a utility (copyrighted by Microsoft) which lets you watch the

  107.    and modem responses) and the "PPPLOG.TXT" (PPP trace information) in a

  109.    window ONLINE (!), that is WHILE IT HAPPENS !

  129.    1.)  you have to enable the logfile feature in the modem's advanced
  130.  
  131.         settings. Open the modems wizard applet which you will find under
  132.  
  133.         "Start | Settings | Control Panel | Modems",

  135.         then select any modem entry and click on the "Properties" button
  136.  
  137.         and enable the "Record to a logfile" on the "Connection , Advanced"
  138.  
  139.         dialog box. In this INF file it is already pre-selected, so normally
  140.  
  141.         you don't need this step. If the "LOGWIN" utility is not used, then
  142.  
  143.         Windows95 will create a file "MODEMLOG.TXT" in the \WINDOWS\
  144.  
  145.         directory

  149.    2.)  if you want to enable the "PPPLOG.TXT" logfile feature, you must
  150.  
  151.         enable it in the advanced network settings for the "dial-up adapter":

  153.         Open the network wizard applet which you will find under

  155.         "Start | Settings | Control Panel | Network". Then select the
  156.  
  157.         "dial-up adapter", click on the "properties" button and choose the
  158.  
  159.         "advanced" dialox box. There the value for the "Record a log file"
  160.  
  161.         property must be set to "yes"

  165.    3.)  manually start the "LOGWIN.EXE" before dialing whenever you want to
  166.  
  167.         watch or debug the INF files !

  173.    kit", which is publically available on Microsoft's FTP Internet Server.
