  1. CD-55A INSTALLATION GUIDE FOR WINDOWS 95                                Rev. C

  3. This driver is for TEAC CD-55A 8 BIT I/F card, TEAC CD-55A 16 BIT I/F card 
  4. (P/N E950228-00A) and Sound Blaster card with Panasonic interface. 
  5.

  7. *       This driver does not work with Sound Blaster Compatible card.        *

  10. 1. If you would like to upgrade to Windows 95 from Windows 3.1 or Windows 3.11
  11.    (DOS 5.0 or higher) by using CD-55A:
  12.    
  13.    1-1  Install the device driver in your config.sys and CD-ROM Extension 
  14.         program in your autoexec.bat by using CD-55A CD-ROM Installation Disk
  15.         (P/N T000022-00C).
  16.         Please refer to Software manual to install the device driver.
  17.  
  18.    1-2  Reboot your system after the installation complete and let the system 
  19.         recognize CD-55A.
  20.  
  21.    1-3  When your system recognize CD-55A, you can install Windows 95 from  
  22.         CD-55A.
  23.

  30. 2. If you have already installed Windows 95 and you would like to install  
  31.    CD-55A:

  44. How to install the protect mode driver

  46.    Please call our BBS to get the protect mode driver.

  48.    You will get compressed file CD55_W95.ZIP which consists of 4 files 
  49.    as follows:
  50.                 TEAC4X08.INF
  51.                 TEAC4X16.INF
  52.                 TEAC4X  .MPD
  53.                 README  .TXT
  54.  
  55.    You must decompress CD55_W95.ZIP file by using PKUNZIP.EXE program.
  56.  
  57.    Boot up Windows 95 and go to "Control Panel", double-click "Add New
  58.    Hardware".
  59.  
  60.    Click "Next" to begin installing CD-55A and select "No" because you can't 
  61.    search CD-55A automatically. Then click "Next".
  62.  
  63.    Select "CD-ROM controller" as Hardware type and click "Next".
  64.  
  65.    Click "Have Disk".
  66.  
  67.    If the disk isn't in Drive A, change the drive letter or directly. Then
  68.    click "OK".

  70.    Find "TEAC4x CD-ROM Drive w/8 bit card" and "TEAC4x CD-ROM Drive w/16 bit
  71.    card" in Models and select as follows:

  73.         TEAC 8 bit I/F card  :   "TEAC4x CD-ROM Drive w/8 bit card"  
  74.         TEAC 16 bit I/F card :   "TEAC4x CD-ROM Drive w/16 bit card" 
  75.         Sound Blaster        :   "TEAC4x CD-ROM Drive w/8 bit card"

  77.    Click "Next".

  79.    Confirm the I/O address setting. If this address is different from your 
  80.    hardware I/O address (dip, jumper switches), you must set same address
  81.    later. However, if you have Sound Blaster, the address should be hardware
  82.    I/O address + 0010H as follows:
  83.         Sound Blaster hardware I/O address 220H -----> 230H
  84.         Sound Blaster hardware I/O address 240H -----> 250H

  86.    Click "Next", then the driver will be installed.
  87.  
  88.    Click "Finish" to complete the installation.

  90.    If you had the same address as your hardware, Click "OK" to shut down your
  91.    computer and let it recognize CD-55A.
  92.    If you had the different address as your hardware, Click "NO" to setup
  93.    properly and go to "How to set the I/O address".

  95. How to set the I/O address

  97.    Double-click "System" in "Control Panel".
  98.  
  99.    Select "Device Manager" and double-click "CD-ROM controllers".

  101.    "TEAC4x CD-ROM Drive w/8 bit card" or "TEAC4x CD-ROM Drive w/16 bit card"
  102.    appears and double-click it.

  104.    Select "Resources" and click "Change Setting".

  106.    You must select the correct address from the following address.
  107.         Value for 8 bit: 0230 - 0237   Value for 16 bit: 02C0 - 02C7

  114.    Click "OK" twice and click "OK" to restart again.

  117. How to run DOS application in MS-DOS mode
  118.  
  119.    If you install the protect mode driver, your CD-ROM extension program in
  120.    your AUTOEXEC.BAT file (MSCDEX.EXE or CORELCDX.COM) is remarked
  121.    automatically. It is to avoid their conflict. Therefore, if you want to use
  122.    CD-55A in MS-DOS mode, you have to add the following statement in
  123.    DOSSTART.BAT by using DOS Editor
  124.       
  125.       C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\MSCDEX.EXE /D:TEAC-CDA /M:15
  126.         * C:\WINDOWS [Windows 95 directly]
  127.           TEAC-CDA [The drive name same as TEAC_CDA.SYS in your CONFIG.SYS]
  128.    
  129.    If you don't have DOSSTART.BAT in Windows 95 directly (C:\WINDOWS), you 
  130.    have to make DOSSTART.BAT file. DOSSTART.BAT must run when you exit to DOS 
  131.    from Windows shut down menu. If you don't recognize CD-55A, please check 
  132.    whether your CONFIG.SYS file has the device driver TEAC_CDA.SYS statement 
  133.    still. If your CONFIG.SYS file doesn't have the device driver TEAC_CDA.SYS 
  134.    statement, you have to add the following statement manually by using DOS 
  135.    Editor.

  137.       DEVICE=<drv:\path\>TEAC_CDA.SYS /D:<xxxxxxxx> /P:<xxx> /T:<x> 
  138.            /P:<xxx>     : Specifies the port address of the interface card.
  139.                           <xxx> is hex.
  140.            /T:<x>       : Specifies type of the interface card .<x>=0,1 or 2
  141.            /D:<xxxxxxxx>: Specifies the driver name. <xxxxxxxx>

  143.       ex.1) Default TEAC CD-55A 8 BIT I/F card
  144.             DEVICE=C:\TEAC\TEAC_CDA.SYS /D:TEAC-CDA /P:230 /T:1

  152.    TEAC_CDA.SYS must be load from CONFIG.SYS file.

  155. Caution!
  156.    
  157.    If you install the real mode driver by using CD-55A CD-ROM Installation 
  158.    Disk (P/N T000022-00C) after installing the protect mode driver, your 
  159.    system will hang up, unless when reloading the TEAC installation software 
  160.    you select "Exit" or "No Changes" so that the AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS 
  161.    files are not automatically edited.
